General Overview
Welcome to our light-filled Mediterranean home in southern Spain 🌿
This is our real family home – lived in, loved, and designed for slow mornings, outdoor meals, and easy family life.
The house is bright and spacious, with a warm, relaxed atmosphere and plenty of natural light throughout the day. Inside you’ll find comfortable living areas, a well-equipped kitchen, and several bedrooms that make it ideal for families or couples who enjoy having space around them.
Outside is where the home really shines. We have a generous terrace with shaded seating, dining areas, and beautiful open views – perfect for long lunches, evening dinners, or simply enjoying the sun with a book. The outdoor spaces are very private and feel like an extension of the living area.
We are a family with young children, so the home is family-friendly, practical, and easy to live in. At the same time, it’s calm and peaceful, making it equally suited for couples or anyone looking to slow down and enjoy the Mediterranean rhythm.
The house is located in a quiet, local neighborhood, close to nature, beaches, and everyday amenities. It’s a wonderful base for exploring the area – or for doing absolutely nothing at all.
This is a home for people who value simplicity, warmth, outdoor living, and a sense of being “at home” rather than just staying somewhere.
The Space
The heart of the home is the large, bright terrace, where life naturally unfolds. There are three different seating areas, so you can follow the sun or the shade throughout the day. From the patio, you can enjoy sunrise in the morning, a beautiful way to start the day with coffee or quiet time.
Just beyond the terrace is a wide grass lane, perfect for relaxing, playing, or lying under the young avocado trees. We often grow fresh herbs and salads, especially arugula and spinach. If you’re staying while they’re growing, we’d really appreciate a bit of watering – and of course, feel free to enjoy them.
The living room has high ceilings, a dining table, and a fireplace for cooler evenings. We don’t have a television – intentionally – so the space is made for conversation, reading, music, and slow evenings.
From the living room, you move into a hallway with direct access to the small but very efficient kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with all the spices and herbs you can imagine, from Mediterranean classics to Middle Eastern flavors and our homemade garam masala.
Behind the kitchen, there’s direct access to the barbecue area, with a gas stove . In the back outdoor hallway, you’ll also find plenty of space for laundry, including a washing machine.
Down the indoor hallway are the master bedroom, bathroom, guest room, and kids’ room, making the layout practical and comfortable for families or longer stays.
All bedrooms have ceiling-fans. The kids room and living room has air conditioning.
We also have several heaters for the low season, where indoors tend to be colder because of the construction of the buildings in spain.
From the patio, a separate entrance leads to our attic space, which we use as an office. Remote workers are very welcome to use this space. It includes a desk area, an additional bathroom and toilet, and our Italian coffee machine – and yes, we’ll happily teach you how to use it properly ☕️
This is a lived-in, generous home designed for outdoor living, good food, and slow days – a place to settle in, not just pass through.
Guest Access
Almuñécar is about a 1-hour drive from Málaga (AGP) airport.
From the street, you walk up approximately 15 stairs to reach the house. Once inside, the home and garden are all on one level, making it easy to move around during your stay.
If we're hosting you we'd be happy to pick you up, but we recommend that you have a car during your stay as it is easier to explore the area by car.
You're welcome to use all our anemities as you like.
Notes
We have a paddle board for two people that you can use free of charge, we also have kids bikes and adult bikes with and without electricity for either mountain or road.
We don’t have a television, by choice, but there is good Wi-Fi, plenty of books, outdoor space, and room to slow down.
If you’re staying during growing season, you’re welcome to enjoy herbs and salads from the garden – and we’d appreciate a little watering while you’re here.
We’re always happy to share local tips, seasonal produce suggestions, and help you settle in.
We don't have any animals but we'd love to take care of your, both of us have had animials as teenagers.

Neighbourhood
We live in a quiet, residential neighbourhood, but this part of Spain knows how to shift moods with the seasons.
In July and August, Almuñécar comes alive with true Mediterranean summer energy – long evenings, warm nights, people out late, beach life, festivals, and a joyful buzz throughout the town. It feels social, vibrant, and unmistakably summery.
The rest of the year is more local and grounded, with everyday Spanish life at the center – yet there’s always a gentle, international presence of engaged foreigners who live here for the lifestyle, the nature, and the climate. It never feels closed or sleepy, just relaxed and human.
Just nearby is La Herradura, a beautiful coastal village with a stunning bay, great swimming, and excellent food – very much worth a visit. Nature lovers will love Cerro Gordo, a protected natural area with dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, hiking trails, and some of the best sea views on the coast.
For city lovers, Granada is only about one hour away, offering culture, tapas, history, and the Alhambra. And if you’re here in winter, the Sierra Nevada is close enough for day trips to ski in the morning and be back by the sea in the afternoon – one of the rare places in Europe where that’s possible.
This is a neighbourhood for people who appreciate contrast: quiet days and lively summers, local life with international energy, sea, mountains, and culture all within easy reach.
Getting to my home
Málaga Airport (AGP) is the nearest airport, about a 1-hour drive from the house.
If we’re not home during your stay, it’s usually possible to use our car, which you can pick up directly at the airport. Otherwise, renting a car is easy and recommended if you plan to explore the wider area.
The house is located in central Almuñécar and is walkable to the entire town. The only thing to note is a short uphill walk at the very end when returning home. Apart from that, central Almuñécar is mostly flat and easy to walk.
Nearest airport
Málaga Airport (AGP) – approximately 1 hour by car.
Getting Around
Once here, everything you need is within walking distance – beaches, shops, cafés, restaurants, and daily essentials. Mercadona is right by the hill steps just 10 min walk.
Almuñécar is a very walkable town, and most guests find they don’t need a car for everyday life. That said, having a car is ideal if you’d like to explore nearby areas such as La Herradura, Cerro Gordo, Granada, or the Sierra Nevada.
Taxis are easy to find, and local buses connect Almuñécar with nearby towns.
