Neighbourhood
Barceloneta neighbourhood is a great location in the old city centre with 5 min walk from beach and 10 min walk to the metro and the area Born. In the area you find everything you need like restaurants, supermarket, pharmacy and bars surrounding 2 plazas.
There are almost no traffic as only locals can park there. So you feel like you are in a small Spanish village in a big city.
The area is safe but these days caution should be taken in Barcelona for pickpocketing especially on the metro, at the beach and in Raval and La Rambla, also if you go to the clubs.
The beach and beach promenade is very busy in summer but I'm happy to give you recommendations on where to go where you escape the worst. A lot of tourists by the beach but inside the neighbourhood you can't tell so much it is always a nice feeling in there.
Everything in Barceloneta closes at 23.00 so it is quiet at night. 10 minutes walk and you are in Born or Gotico where there are lots of cute bars and restaurants and small sweaty reaggeton dance bars.
Nearest airport
El prat Barcelona airport. 25 minutes drive or around 60 minutes to my home by public transport
Getting Around
You can walk to most places. In the neighbourhood you find everything you need; restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacy and bars.
The metro is 8 minutes walk, the area Born is 10 minutes walk and Plaza Catalunya 25 minutes walk or 2 stops on the metro.
There are also bus stop 1 minute walk from the flat.
It is super easy to rent bikes to get around town as well, normally 20 minutes from one side of town to the other. Cost from 10 eur per day.
Easy to take train or rent a car for daytrips to Costa Brava, vineyards, Tarragona area or hiking.
