Neighbourhood
We are located in a desireable suburb of New York City called Summit. The downtown of Summit is within walking distance, less than a mile away, and itself is fantastic with many great shops, restaurants, parks and playgrounds, and we are adjacent to a large nature preserve called Watchung Reservation with trails for hiking or walking or biking and even some small ponds for swimming. We are 5 minutes from the Mall at Short Hills - imagine the stores of Fifth Avenue like Chanel, Cartier, Gucci, and Hermès all in a shopping mall, which has some excellent restaurants as well. You can easily get an Uber or Lyft to get around.
Nearest airport
Newark airport is 15 min away, JFK and LaGuardia are about 1 hour depending on traffic.
Getting around
We are located 20 miles from Manhattan, which is easily accessible with a train station less than a mile from the house with direct trains into Penn Station. There is also a direct bus line. You can take advantage of everything NYC has to offer in a 40 minute ride.
If you have a car, you can drive to Liberty State Park to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island 25 min away. We are also about one hour drive to the Jersey Shore, with miles of beautiful beaches and fun boardwalks with rides and games. If you like history, Washington’s Revolutionary War Headquarters are 15 minutes away by car or train in historic Morristown, NJ.

We are a blended family and could be traveling as a couple, with 1 child or 4 (ages 12-15) - we all love to travel. Introduced to PLU by friends in Italy who have been home swapping, we are joined them for a home exchange holiday in Spain a few months before the pandemic. Very excited to be part of this community and begin exchanging ourselves when people can travel again. We are very tidy and respectful, and will treat your home like it was our own.
