General overview
Our house is a 200 year old farmhouse in rural Prince Edward Island. It is 10 minutes to the ski hill (downhill, cross country, and tubing) and mountain bike trails. We are also 20 minutes to the beaches of the northshore and southshore. We live on 5 acres of garden and forest. An oasis on our farming island.
The space
Our house is perfect summer beach getaways, family hiking and harvest get togethers, or winter by the fire cross country ski read-a-thon's.
We have a large living room that opens onto a BBQ back patio. Acres of gardens and forest. Mill road is a two minute walk away, a red dirt road that follows mill brooke.
Upstairs main bedroom: Queen Bed. Upstairs Kids bedroom 2 loft beds. Downstairs Space Room: Two twin beds.
Guest access
There are stairs into the house, and stairs to the second floor. The stairs to do not have rails on both sides and can be tricky for those without good control of their bodies. My husbands father is blind and he is able to navigate the house safely.
If you are visiting in the winter, we have a woodstove, but it does not have a safety surround to protect children. We have other sources of heat.
In the summer months, over heating can be an issue for a few weeks. We have AC in main eating/living space.
Notes
I love to help people plan their trip. Hosting is part of being an islander. My number one recommendation is always hiking the Greenwhich trail at the Prince Edward Island park. And enjoy a meal at one of the MANY local summer restaurants.

Neighbourhood
We like in central PEI, close to beaches, trail and a quick drive to Charlottetown. There is a little country grocery store 4KM away and many farm stands in the neighborhood.
Getting to my home
Prince Edward Island is accessed by bridge and Ferry. Free to come on the island, they charge you on the way off. Or you can fly into Charlottetown. You would need a car to get to our house. Everything is quite close on PEI.
Nearest airport
Charlottetown: 20 minutes from our house.
Getting around
Car rental is the best way to see PEI from our house. I have never taken a taxi to our house, but I suspect it's possible. In the winter, some storms can make the road (it is a main road) impassable for a day or so. If you came in winter, we would be sure to hire a local snow clearer to plow the driveway.

Hi/Bonjour! We are a family of 4 living on beautiful Prince Edward Island. Our children are 5 and 8 (2024) and the perfect age for travel adventures. We love hiking, cross country skiing, and mountain biking. We have previously been hosts for couchsurfing and currently host for warm showers (cycle tourist). We are very flexible on hosting as we have other places we can stay on our island. We would love to share our home!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community.
