General overview
This is our family home of thirty six years. It's a cosy bungalow in the gorgeous Scottish countryside; it’s a haven of peace and quiet, a place to relax and unwind or you can be as active as you want.
As we live in France for most of the year this is now our second home.
The space
The house is a four bed-roomed bungalow
Guest access
Our home is a cosy bungalow with stunning views down the glen and over the Scottish countryside. It has four-bedrooms and a main bathroom with an en-suite to the main bedroom. The living and dining rooms are open plan and we have a sun-room with a small table where you can watch the cows in the field as they watch you have breakfast. They’re very nosy!
Notes
The fourth bedroom has bunk beds.

Neighbourhood
We live in the gorgeous Scottish countryside surrounded by green fields. We have cows in the field next to the house - sorry not the Scottish hairy kind but they are nosey and like to watch as you have breakfast in the sunroom. We have fantastic neighbours who will be delighted to meet you.
We’re perfectly located for anyone who wants to go hill-walking, play a round of golf, visit a castle or discover a new whiskey at one of the many distilleries in the area!
Getting to my home
You can fly to Aberdeen airport and then drive to the house. Or fly to Edinburgh and Glasgow then drive to the house - these are about a 3.5 hour drive.
Past exchangers have flown into London and caught the train to Aberdeen as they wanted the experience.
Nearest airport
Aberdeen is a 35 minute drive away.
Getting around
There's no use trying to sugar-coat it, there is very little public transport and taxis are expensive. you really need a car.
As this is a second home we can't exchange cars as it'll be with us in France.

Gaynor
Hiya and bonjour, we're Brian and Gaynor McKernan, a Scouse/Scottish couple who live in southwest France. We've done several exchanges years ago but none since 2017, when we moved to France.
Brian is a keen DIYer with a love of all things wood and he also likes to walk and cycle, in contrast to his love/hate relationship with computers. I love to swim and sing and have recently discovered mosaicing. We're big cinema-goers and love eating out, as well as entertaining at home. Whilst Brian is retired, I still work as a self-employed celebrant.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
