4 bedroom 2 bath home in Waimea, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Walking distance to some of the best restaurants on the island, gym, yoga studio, several Farmer's Markets, grocery and coffee. 15 minutes drive to some of the best beaches in the world, including Hapuna Beach, recently voted best beach in the USA. Mountain view, peek ocean view. Great outdoor entertaining, hot tub.
The space
We're sure you will love our home as much as we do. Situated on 25,000 square feet, the grounds are green and quiet, and yet we are a 5-minute walk to restaurants (including one of the best in Hawaii), cafes, and a small nightclub.
Waimea is a quaint cowboy town, hosting one of the country's largest privately held cattle ranches, the Parker Ranch. Located at 2700 ' (823m) elevation, it is 8-10 F (4.5-5.5C) cooler than the beach, with no heat or AC required! The perfect temperature to get an amazing night's sleep. We do have a wood stove for colder nights.
The hot tub, heated outdoor shower, and hammock complete the garden.
Guest access
Our home has two floors, with three bedrooms and a bath on the main floor, and their primary suite with ensuite and "yoga loft" are located one floor up. Note the house is elevated above the ground level (increasing our view of Maunakea and a peek at the ocean), meaning there are 12 steps up to the main floor.
Notes
Waimea is a short 15-minute drive to some of the best beaches in the world, 50 minutes from the Kona airport, and 1 hour and 10 minutes from Hilo. Please don't confuse our Waimea with the town named Waimea in Kauai and a bay on Oahu.
We are also a 2.5-hour drive to the summit of Manuakea (14000 ft or 4000M), where you'll see snow in the winter from our deck. You'll need a 4wd if you plan to visit the summit.

Neighbourhood
We are in Waimea town with award-winning restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, gyms, and yoga facilities, two supermarkets, and one health food store, as well as parks and sports fields.
Nearest airport
It is best to fly into Kona airport (KOA), which has international service to/from Japan and Canada and many flights from the west coast USA. If you are coming internationally from any other country, you must fly through Oahu, a 45-minute flight away.
Getting around
Although you can take a taxi to/from our house, having a car is best. There is a bus service, but it only runs twice per day. Also, it is best to book in advance if you're taking a taxi to the airport.

Andrew
Andrew is in his early 60s, Cietta is in her 50s and our teenage son is 19. We have lived in various places in the US mainland and for several years in Australia before moving to Hawaii, where we love to hike, bike, swim, surf, paddle, and scuba dive. Andrew works at one of the world-class astronomical observatories on the Big Island of Hawaii, Cietta works for a non-profit. We love to travel, and are experienced home exchangers. We have 2 cats who would love to stay home while we travel.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
