Our charming cottage was built in 1850 and was originally a dairy. It was then converted to a chapel before becoming a lovely family home in 1975.
Our cottage has a wealth of original features. A woodburning stove and Aga keep it toasty warm in winter but it is beautiully cool in summer.
Outside is a patio and secluded garden. There is private parking for up to 3 cars.
Situated in the hamlet of West Stowell and within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (lovely for walking and riding) our home provides an excellent base to explore this part of the South of England.
Popular sites nearby to visit would be Avebury, Stonehenge, Bath and Castle Coombe.
Our nearest town is Marlborough (6 miles)which has a wealth of fantastic restaurants and individual shops. It is also home to Marlborough College with its famous Summer School.
There are numerous pubs in the surrounding villages with great eating options.
The mainline station is in Pewsey, a 5 minute drive, and is 1 hour direct to London.
The space
Our cottage has a well equipped eat-in kitchen with 2oven Aga. Passing through a small laundry room is the large and beautifully light dining room which is where we always eat if more than the two of us. the dining room connects to a delightful and cosy sitting room with TV and wood burner stove. There will always be plenty of logs in the outside logstore. The sitting room has beautiful oak beams and leaded windows. The two rooms are connected by a back hallway of fof which are 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and bath. This makes the cottage ideal for those with limited mobility. Upstairs is another double bedroom with ensuite panelled bathroom This room is bath only but is perfect for long soaks on a winter's evening.
Outside is a patio with table and chairs , a pretty garden with views over Milk Hill (the highest point in Wiltshire)
We also have a beautiful garden room with double bed and ensuite shower room. We don't include it in our listing but it could be made available if needed.
Guest access
Our home is on 2 floors but upstairs is the third bedroom and second bathroom only.
There are steps up to the front door. The back door has one small step only. A wheelchair ramp is available.

My husband and I are retired. Dave was an engineer and I was a professional equestrian trainer and a diagnostic radiographer. In my retirement I have started designing , making and selling jewellery .
We live in a beautiful rural area in Wiltshire and have done several home swaps with great success
We love to travel and our interests include ballet, opera, film, theatre and music. I play lots of tennis and am learning to play Bridge ( with variable success!)
Our youngest daughter is settled in Australia with her Australian husband and our 2 wonderful grandchildren.
We are particularly keen to exchange with members who live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney so as to be close to our daughter. Europe is also high on our list but we are very open to suggestions.
