Neighbourhood
Quiet and dark. You will sleep longer and deeper than anywhere you've ever been.
The neighbors are friendly but inobtrusive. The rental homes in the neighborhood are not close to our home.
Hiking and cycling abound with 33 miles of paved paths for walking, running, and cycling that start just behind our house.
Check out running events at http://www.footzonebend.com/events/.
We are in the heart of the Cascade mountains. Our home is at 4200' elevation and Mt. Bachelor, a skier's delight is visible a short walk along the path in any direction. High mountain lakes are a brief drive away.
Is beer your thing? Follow the Bend Ale Trail or make some new friends on Bend Cycle Pub.
In Sunriver, we have the Sunriver Artists' Gallery with over 30 local artists (http://artistsgallerysunriver.com/index.html). Receptions to meet the artists include free wine and appetizers and are every second Saturday. Sunriver hosts a juried fine art fare August 10-12, 2018. Nearby in Bend there are many art galleries. Art walks are every first Friday in Bend with more chances to meet artists and enjoy free food and drink.
You want museums? We have them. From the Deschutes Historical Museum in the first modern school building in Bend to the High Desert Museum where you can learn about the indigenous people of the region, the pioneers of Central Oregon, and the natural world they impacted, to the Museum at Warm Springs, where you can hear the songs and experience the art of three different tribes of people.
Need a swim, check out laps every morning at SHARC (https://www.sunriversharc.com/) Tennis courts are a walk away and can be reserved ahead. Also, Pickleball is a big deal here. (http://www.sunrivertennis.com/tennis-facilities.html)
Running and endurance events are available year-round. The Pacific Crest Endurance Sports Festival is in Sunriver in June (http://whyracingevents.com/event/989/) Check out other running events at http://www.footzonebend.com/events/.
