General overview
Brand new 1-bedroom 1-bath on quiet street that dead-ends into huge Westside Elementary school field which provides unobstructed views of Mt Adams and Mt Hood. Enjoy the private front deck and entrance with BBQ & dining table plus shared back paver courtyard. The off-street parking also has EV charging! Close to everything including shopping, bike paths, downtown, walking distance to wineries. Every modern amenity available.
The space
Parking is off-street on the west side asphalt driveway of the lot and entry is through a double wide gate of the fenced yard. The house itself consists of a main entry across the private deck on the west side and sliding glass door egress to a courtyard off the living room on the east side. Utilities are underground. There is a bedroom in the northwest corner and a large closet with a built-in dresser between the bedroom and the living room. The bath has both an ensuite entrance from the bedroom and a separate door from the living area. The kitchen is against the south wall across from the living and dining area.
Although it may look like real wood, the flooring is interlocking composite planks - warm and watertight. All the interior walls are insulated, and the perimeter walls are double wide with double insulation. The doors are heavy solid wood and windows are double pane. All shades and curtains are light-blocking and the shades can open top and bottom. The sliding glass door has internal blinds that are jam- and dust-free. Most of the electrical outlets have USB sockets, and some have USB-C. All lights are LED. The water heater is tankless, so you’ll never run out of hot water!
Guest access
Ground floor, single level. Park off-street in front of the apartment on the west end of the property and open the gate to a 4' fenced yard. Walk across a private deck to a lighted door with a keyless lock.

Wow! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our month long stay. The hosts are amazing and really care about the guest experience.. The space is extremely well thought out: nice TV, cooktop, dishwasher, nice cookware and utensils, etc. we enjoyed the front patio and made good use of the barbecue in the back. there was separate storage for all of our wind gear. very quiet at night with just the sounds of crickets.. truly a wonderful stay!

My husband and I spent a wonderful month at Dave and Belinda’s Tranquility Base. We had everything we needed to feel at home as the space was new, clean and in a great location to explore Hood River. Dave and Belinda were always available to answer any questions and offer recommendations. This is a gem of a place and we give it a 5/5 - Rating!!!

Dave and Belinda’s place was great for our 5 week stay! It had everything we needed to cook meals and work remotely. The Wi-Fi was really fast, and we had no problems being on video calls or streaming. We travel with our dog, and she was very comfortable and had plenty of space to roam. The area was very safe to walk our dog, plus lots of green space with a school being next to the house! The location was perfect to visit Mount Hood, all the area wineries, and for hikes in the Columbia River Gorge. Lastly, Dave and Belinda were so friendly and personable. Always welcoming and great to talk too! Next time we are in the area, we will definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful month-long stay at Dave and Belinda’s apartment in Hood River. They’ve really thought of everything to make the place comfortable for guests. The kitchen is well-stocked, the bed is great, the outdoor space is lovely - I could go on and on. And Dave and Belinda are friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a great stay!

Dave and Belinda are outstanding hosts. They were pleasantly friendly, very helpful with local resources and attractions, and always responsive to my questions or needs. The apartment is small but well appointed with modern appliances and furniture. It has everything one or two people might need for an extended stay. They were welcoming if I wanted to share the front patio but gave us privacy on the back porch if we chose. Highest recommendation.

My husband, I, & our 70 lb. Alaskan malamute spent 2 great months at Dave & Belinda's place. We had our own entrance with a private deck & fenced in area with a water spigot. The space was perfect for our dog who likes to spend a lot of time outside. There was also a small gas grill which we used often.
Our hosts were very friendly without being intrusive. If we or they had questions we'd communicate through text messages. it was easy to talk with them. The apartment was very new & there were a few things I thought would make it easier for long term guests (e.g. extra hooks in the closet, a shelf in the BR) & they were appreciative of suggestions.
There was a combined microwave/convection oven that worked for baking food & the induction burners worked great.
There were trails very close to their house for walking the dog. I can't forget to mention the spit on the Columbia River about 2.5 miles away. It is the ultimate "dog" park that we went to daily.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Dave & Belinda were gracious hosts who made me feel like a welcome guest. They were friendly and available to ask questions but also very respectful of privacy. They’ve obviously put a lot of care into their new guest suite. The description and photos are accurate and the suite is modern, clean and bright. The space was efficiently designed with lots of thoughtful touches, such built-in drawers in the closet, plenty of hooks and shelves in the bathroom, and a bedside touch lamp. They even provided a small step stool to reach the higher kitchen cabinets.
The kitchen was well equipped with good quality cookware. Using the combination convection/microwave and the induction cooktop, I made soups, casseroles, and even apple crisp with apples from one of the nearby orchards. I loved the dishwasher - perfect size and very quiet! I appreciated having the instruction manuals, and even a cookbook, for the various appliances (but Dave was very responsive to questions in case you’re not the manual-reading type).
The bed and loveseat were comfortable and it was handy to be able to convert the coffee table to a desk for working. It was very convenient to have access to the full size washer and dryer. I’m not much of a TV watcher so I didn’t really take advantage of the large screen TV. I also didn’t make use of the barbecue but I enjoyed sitting on the private patio on warm evenings.
It was an easy 20 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) to the nearest grocery and drug stores, and also an easy walk to several nice trails. I appreciated having a dedicated off-street parking space, although street parking would have been easy too since it’s on a quiet street.
Overall it was a comfortable, relaxing space for an extended stay and I highly recommend it!

Belinda & Dave
Belinda and Dave have lived in Hood River for over 30 years. We were drawn by the natural beauty of the Columbia Gorge and the vibrant community - including a crazy number of wineries, brew pubs and coffee roasters - and stayed after having raised two children. We're still addicted to the biking, wind, water, and snow sports, and are involved in many community groups such as the local Rotary club.
