Neighbourhood
You can reach the fair in just 5 minutes by foot! But not only that is very close by: You can stroll along the waterside of the Rhine, sit down in one of the numerous bars and cafés, go to the Museums of Arts, or enjoy a concert or theater performance in the "Volkshaus" or "Kaserne".
If you, however, want to explore more of the city and surroundings, you'll find the traffic nodal point "Claraplatz" just around the corner. There you'll also find everything for daily life - from the bank, to the departement store and the Indian supermarket etc.
The surrounding of Basel, Germany (Schwarzwald) and France (Vogesen). You can go to the marked in France St. Louis to get wonderfull fresh food from the farmers market ore the same in Germany. Just by our house is every beautiful frames market by the church 2 minutes from the house. You are in one hour in any of the other city of Switzerland, like Zürich, Bern and Luzern. Basel has to offer a big cultural life. Many Museums, Theaters and events are going on here.
Getting around
We live in a a very nice neibourhood, Matteus, in Kleinbasel. Lots of shops and nice cafe places and restaurants around. The river Rhein is two minutes away from us. There is lots of public transportaion, bus and trams but its also possibel to exchange our car!
