Our home is beach front on Great Barrier Island. Easy living, and off the grid. A unique experience in a Dark Sky Sanctuary area. The house is a quality home (you wouldn't know you are off-grid). Tranquil location but lots to do if you wish. Easy to get to with regular commuter airline (30 minutes from Auckland). The Space

The total space is approximately 120 sqm. We have two large outdoor decks. We have two bedrooms and two separate living areas. The second living area can be used as a third bedroom.  We are a short 1 minute walk to a fantastic beach ( Medlands Beach). We have a large garden with a number of fruit trees.  Quality timber floors throughout. A separate toilet off the main bedroom.

Guest Access

The house is on 3 levels with three steps between each level. You can drive right up to the house.

Notes

Its off grid and power mainly comes from solar. A back up generator is available.

Neighbourhood

This is a beach front location and most houses are holiday homes. Many times you have the whole beach to yourselves. Its a very low crime area.

Getting to my home

To get around the island a car is handy. We are about 5 minutes from the airport. There are shuttle services.

Getting Around

A car is definitely an asset. But not always needed if you are well organised beforehand.

We love spending time together at our holiday home at Great Barrier Island, and also travelling to Europe. We are very active and until recently have had a dog (15 year old retriever) and rescue cat (18 years!) We are keen to visit the UK/Europe regularly and explore home swaps.
