General Overview

Our place is called Tui Hilltop and is located on an extinct volcano 20 minutes south west of Whangārei in Northland. It's very peaceful and quiet. The lush plantings and old grove of native forest on our property attract many native birds. The view is stunning and on a clear night, the stars are breathtaking.

The Space

Tui Hilltop consists of 3 off grid small cabins - a bedroom cabin, a kitchen cabin and a bathroom cabin. The cabins are interlinked with landscaped areas and decks. The bedroom cabin has a super king bed. Lay in bed and enjoy the expansive views! The kitchen cabin has everything you need for cooking. There is a gas stove with an oven and a pantry with a chilly bin. There is a small sofa and a fire place that keeps the cabin warm and cosy. Outside you can find a bbq and there is a table with barstools if you want to enjoy the view with your meals. The bathroom cabin has a shower heated by a gas califont and a vanity. There is a separate commercial compost toilet. There is a large outdoor area with sun loungers, chairs, a swing seat and a fire pit. At the end is an oval deck with an outdoor bath tub. Relax and enjoy the views or stargaze at night! Tui Hilltop is fully off-grid with a solar system providing electricity for lighting and phone charging (via a USB outlet). If it’s sunny, the system will be generating power. If it’s not sunny, you’ll be using power from the bank of batteries. While there should be plenty of power during your stay, you will need to conserve on grey days to avoid running out. There is no wi-fi but good phone reception. (If you are coming from overseas, you can buy a cheap SIM card with enough data.) Our place is a glamping accommodation so availability depends on bookings.

Guest Access

Please note that there are six paved steps from the main level down to the bathroom cabin.

Notes

Our cat Squeak lives at Tui Hilltop. She is very friendly, clean and enjoys having people around.
