General Overview

Our piece of paradise is a two bedroom and two bath condo on ground floor. It is peaceful safe and quiet in a small complex of 60 owners mostly from Canada who love to gather around the pool in the afternoon for happy hour. We have a view of the lake and are within walking distance to the main carraterra with restaurants and shops. The kitchen living room is open concept with recent upgrades of granite and cupboards made with parote wood. Because the weather is so perfect year round there is no need for heat or AC. I love that. And the weather also allows us to play tennis or Pickleball every morning. If you are a player we have 3 locations you could drop into. If you are a hiker there are numerous trails up the mountain behind us.

The Space

Enjoy your morning coffee out on the back patio overlooking green space and the lake. Beautiful sunsets and a glass of wine also work. Numerous birds during the day and the cicadas in the evening to sing you to sleep.

Guest Access

We are on the found floor so no stairs to climb. The units are only 2 stories and feel more like homes than apartments. The pool is a fabulous temperature year round. The gardens around the pool are available for games and there are lounge chairs for your favourite book. There is also a gym available as well as a library and puzzle/games room. This is a gated community and we have guards on gate access at all times.

Notes

We may have a car available for you in the exchange if we are flying rather than driving to our destination. There are also rentals and driving in Lakeside is easy once you embrace narrow streets and the cobblestone.

Neighbourhood

There are 5 villages along the lake each with their own character so it is nice to be able to drive. Other options are taking the bus or renting a bike as there is a bike path that runs all along the lake. It is easy to stay active here with tennis pickleball hiking or golf. And the best part is it is never too hot or Too cold. Guadalajara is the closest city. There are tours you can take into the old colonial part of town as well as tours of nearby archaeological sites and the town of Tequila with their distilleries.

Getting to my home

To get here you fly into Guadalajara Mexico and we are only a 20 minute taxi ride from there. There is a direct flight from Madrid to Guadalajara as well as most of the larger US cities. Coming from Canada you can fly direct to one of the beach destinations enjoy a few days there and then it’s just a short cheap flight inland. We are about 3-4 hours by car inland.

Guadalajara airport is about 20 minutes away.

Getting Around

You can walk down to the Main Street for shopping or cafes about a half a kilometre. Then as I mentioned you could catch a bus to visit one of the other villages. Our car may be available. Or we can line you up with a reasonable rental if we will be needing our car.

My husband Larry and I have been retired for 3 years. We are snowbirds from Canada that go to Lake Chapala Mexico every winter. We are active and love playing tennis and Pickleball. We are new to home exchange as we just purchased our home in Mexico last year. We would love to be part of this friendly community and see what new friends and adventures await us.
