Neighbourhood
We have 2 play parks for children within walking distance as well as a local grocery store, Tim Horton' Bake Shop, Greggs a Bakers, Chemist and a Restaurant/Bar with play for children. Blantyre has an Asda superstore, swimming pool, gym and a skatepark.
Our house is close to Blantyre, Hamilton Town Centre and East Kilbride Town Centre. Hamilton has a cinema, restaurants, major chain stores for shopping and major supermarkets. It has a museum, Mausoleum, jogging and cycling paths. Chatelherault Country park is close-by which was the Hunting House for the Duke of Hamilton. It offers a play park, woodland walks, cafe, tour of the house and lots of family activities. Hamilton Town House offers shows, library and activities. Hamilton Water Palace has a gym, classes, fun pool with slides as well as a 25 metre pool. Hamilton Racecourse has horse racing and music events throughout the year. The University of the West Of Scotland is a 5 minute walk from the house.
Strathclyde Park has a theme park, bowling alley, soft play, cafe, restaurant, Amazonia, boating lake, walkway/jogging route, cycle and boat hire.
There are golf courses in the local area.
In East Kilbride there is a cinema, ice rink, shopping centre with major chain stores, Village with local stores, Restaurants and bars. James Hamilton Heritage Park in East Kilbride has a boating lake, cycle and walking route, play park and cafe. Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride has a play park, small zoo, woodland walks and a cafe. There is also a olympic size swimming pool, 2 soft play areas and a skate park in East Kilbride.
We are 20 minutes driving, train or bus to Glasgow City Centre which has many museums, art galleries, shopping centres, theatres, bars, restaurants and nightlife. We are also close to the Commonwealth Velodrome too.
Edinburgh the Capital City of Scotland is accessible by car or train and is 50 mile away.
Loch Lomond is a 50 minute drive and we are 1 hour 30 minutes from the border with England.
We are a 40 minute drive to the beach.
Getting around
There are shops/restuarants within walking distance, we do have a 7 seater car which we can discuss regarding usage. We have good bus transport links to the train station.
