Neighbourhood
Saltaire is a beautifully preserved Victorian model village in West Yorkshire, renowned for its rich industrial heritage and stunning architecture. Founded in 1851 by Sir Titus Salt, a forward-thinking mill owner, the village was built to provide better living conditions for his workers. At its heart is Salts Mill, a grand former textile mill now transformed into an art gallery, cultural space, and shopping destination, housing works by artist David Hockney.
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, Saltaire boasts charming stone buildings, cobbled streets, and green spaces like Roberts Park, perfect for leisurely strolls along the River Aire. The village offers a delightful mix of history, art, and local cafes and shops, making it a favorite destination for visitors. Just a short train ride from Leeds and Bradford, Saltaire is the perfect spot for those who appreciate history, culture, and the natural beauty of the Yorkshire countryside.
It’s an ideal base for exploring West Yorkshire, with its unique character, riverside walks, and proximity to the stunning Yorkshire Dales.

My husband and I moved to Saltaire from London in 2016 and would love to share with you this special place we call home. The property we have to exchange is a holiday let, but we live just up the road and this house is used frequently by our own family and ourselves. The property was completely refurbished in 2022.
We are a family of 4 - myself, my husband and our sons (age 7 and a baby born in March 2024). We are primarily looking for short breaks within a short distance of our home, but are also happy to consider travelling further for longer periods (especially during the school holidays).
"We are really keen to do short exchanges within a couple of hours drive of where we live in Saltaire. We can also easily get to places on the East Coast Mainline for short breaks (i.e. anywhere between and including Edinburgh and London)"

"My son who is Lego mad is absolutely desperate to go to Legoland so we'd be really keen on something in or around Windsor for a short swap."
