General overview

This cottage was built in 1930 for my great grandmother. It is right on the water with spectacular views of Winter Pond. There are many birds who visit the property so the house is equipped with binoculars. You will need them!

The space

The house is on a hill so you enter on the second floor. The kitchen, bathroom and master bedroom are all on the level. Down a narrow and steep staircase tot he lower level you will find a bedroom for 1 or 2 guests and the living room.

Neighbourhood

The house is on a dead end dirt road. All of our neighbors are fantastic and very friendly. There are miles of walking trails around here so if you like walking or running there are many routed to explore. I practice organic and am transitioning to native plant gardening so we have many animals, especially birds. As I was taking the photos for this listing a red-tailed hawk perched right over my head. We have great blue herons that visit regularly along with wood ducks. A bald eagle sometimes visits. We have binoculars here and you will need them but if you are a birder you will have a lot to look at. Downtown Winchester is 1 mile away and has lovely shops and restaurants. There is also a commuter train station there that will take you directly to North station in Boston.

Getting to my home

A car will be very helpful as the nearest bus stop is .5 miles away and it comes every hour. If you don't have a car, ride services are readily available and public transit is nearby.

Nearest airport

Logan airport is 9 miles away. We usually drive in or take a car service.

Getting around

To get to Boston you can drive in to the city and try your luck at parking. Or, you can drive to Alewife station and park in the garage there to hop on the MBTA red line. If you want to be completely car free you can walk 0.6 miles to the #350 bus which will take you to Alewife station.
