Hospitality Description: Depending on the dates, we can provide our lower level for you to stay in while you are traveling or needing something longer. Currently there is a double bed in the lower level and a bathroom. There is plenty of room for a port a crib, inflatables etc. if you have more than two in your group. We would enjoy sharing a meal and giving you pointers on things to do and see if you want them.

General Overview
Updates Feb 2026*
I am sad to report that currently, ICE and Custom Border Patrol are still active in our city and most of the state. I would advise against international or travel by people who may be vulnerable to detainment at this time. I will update this post when this status changes.
Update 11/25 We recently had a friend move into our house with us. She brought her adorable dog and cat with her. She has a little suite in the basement and shares the rest of the house with us. That means that you would either be staying at the home with her living there. (Would still allow for sleeping 4 if someone slept on the couch but there are beds for three) Or if she came with on an exchange or went elsewhere during your stay, it would involve taking care (basic needs only) of her beatiful long haired cat Chai.
We also are open to a hospitality stay for one or two if you enjoy animals.
Our home is a single story house in a first ring suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. it is in a great location with all the urban amenities and yet has large beautiful parks very close by. We have a large fenced yard perfect for children or pets. In the summer, we love to sit on the back deck and watch all the birds. The house has one master bedroom on the main floor and one basement bedroom with a bathroom on the lower level. It is a modest home with modern amenities and is very comfortable for family living. We have added a murphy bed to the office on the main floor for guests.
We will also be adding our camping trailer to our profile later this week if you are interested in staying in one of the beautiful parks in the area rather than in our home.
Guest Access
There are several stairs into the house Kitchen, bath, master bedroom, office (witth single Murphpy bed) and main living area on main floor. Full flight of stairs to the lower level which has a bath, laundry, large open floor space and a bedroom. The basement is currently used by our friend.

Hopefully soon but MN is preparing for a long term resistance. The devastation to the state(and my city particularly) will be felt economically for a long time and the trauma will be generational.

Neighbourhood
We live in Richfield, a central location for many activities in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Our home is on a quiet street but near bus stops, shopping and freeways. Richfield has a large Latinx population and you will hear as much Spanish as English in the cities shops and restaurants.
Getting to my home
We are only about 15 minutes from the MSP international airport. A ride share would be the easiest although you could probably take public transportation
Nearest airport
MSP (Mpls)
Getting Around
Within biking/walking distance is a Walmart, drugstore, gas stations, restaurants, bakeries, groceries, an off leash dog park and a playground. Lyft and Uber (ride shares) are readily available as is meal delivery.
Driving is fairly straightforward with numbered streets. It is a five minute walk to a bus stop which can connect you to other bus routes or the light rail.

People Like Us Local Guide
I could meet up for a meal or a drink or get together. I work full time so am only available weekends and some weekday evenings but am happy to be a guide. Also have lived in the area for the last 16 years and grew up in the area. Available for suggestions for activities, etc.

We are a semi retired lesbian couple. Our three children are grown and we are new grandparents. Laura is a partially retired special education teacher and I still work full-time in social services. (Group homes for people with disabilities)
We are hoping to do more traveling (we have a long bucket list) and have had three great experiences with home exchanges when our kids were younger. Now we are empty nesters, it’s time to travel again.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
