General overview
We've made loads of happy memories here!
It's a fantastic family home in a really safe environment with beautiful country side and local activities on the doorstep. It's a perfect base for the Lake District, coastal towns of Lytham and Blackpool, North West football clubs of Manchester and Liverpool amongst others and premium golf courses such as Royal Lytham and St Annes , Fairhaven , Lancaster and Royal Birkdale.
The space
There is masses of space in our home. We've got 4 double bedrooms , three of which have king size or super king size beds. Two of them are en-suite. There's also two reception rooms and a further cosy seating area in the kitchen/diner.
Our house is great for two people or for a larger family travelling. If you're here in the winter you can snuggle up in front of one of the log burners or have the convenience of the electric fire and central heating,
The house is surrounded by a 1/4 of an acre of enclosed, private garden which was fantastic when our children were growing up. We've enjoyed many social events from bbq's to games of rounders here.
Guest access
Our home is an extended dormer bungalow; we've lived here for 26 years and re-modelled it over time. Whilst the downstairs is ideal for those with mobility issues, please be aware that the entrance points to the house all have a single step up.
Our main bedroom (with dressing room and en-suite shower room) is on the ground floor making the house ideal for anyone with mobility issues. It's a spacious and very comfortable room.
The ground floor is all free flowing and the rooms can be accessed easily as there are double doors into both sitting rooms and the kitchen. There is also a family bathroom downstairs.
Notes
There are 13 steps up the carpetted staircase to the next floor where you'll find the other three bedrooms.

Neighbourhood
We live in a very safe neighbourhood. Anya was born in the house opposite and we have lived in this house since 1998. The country side is within 3 minutes walk.
Catterall itself is a growing village with local shops and amenities. Less than 5 minutes walk away you have a small Co-op supermarket, two Italian restaurants/takeaways, a pub, a bar, a fish and chip take away and a butchers. There are two petrol stations with food outlets 1 mile away.
The park and village hall are 5 minutes walk away and have a good arrangement of children's equipment and an adult fitness trail.
Garstang (1.5miles) is a market town steeped in history perfect for relaxed shopping trips, lazy picnics, teashop treats and traditional pub lunches. You'll find electric car chargers in Garstang and one at the BP garage 1 mile away.
The ruins of Greenhalgh Castle and the narrow alleyways give a hint of Garstang's past. The Garstang Heritage Trail outlines the history of the town and will take you past many historic buildings and landmarks.
Whether you wish to explore by car, bicycle or on foot, Garstang is the perfect destination for all seasons and a great starting point for a diverse range of walking and cycling routes including:
Nicky Nook
Brock Bottoms
The Millenium Green
The Wyre Way
Morecambe Bay
You're only about 20 minutes away from Lancaster Castle which was founded in the 11th century and used as both a castle and a prison. Visitors can tour the castle's keep, dungeons, and courtroom, which have played a crucial role in Lancashire's history (The Pendle witch trials took place here). The castle also offers stunning views of Lancaster and the surrounding countryside. It's an ideal spot for history enthusiasts and those looking to explore the region's rich cultural heritage.
Just over a mile away, you'll find Barton Grange and The Flower Bowl. This large, local Garden/Entertainment Centre sells everything from gifts to clothes to beautiful local food produce. Each Christmas they have award winning Christmas displays. To keep you entertained there is also a 3 screen cinema, ten pin bowling alley, golf simulators and a curling area.
Within a half an hour drive, the adventurous can visit Blackpool's Pleasure Beach or for those that love 'Strictly' a trip to Blackpool's Tower Ballroom is a must. A couple of miles further down the coast we recommend a walk/cycle ride followed by lunch at the more up market Lytham St Annes.
If you head North from our house, within 40 minutes you can be walking in the stunning Lake District or the beautiful town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
For the sports enthusiasts there's plenty to keep you occupied. Local teams play in Garstang each week so you can catch a game of rugby, football or cricket. You can have a go at Padel or crown green bowling or swim at local pools. If watching Premiership football is your thing, you can of course access this from the comfort of the sofa or visit Old Trafford, Anfield or The Ethiad. For the really adventurous you could even try sky diving with the Black Knights at Cockerham! Personally, we prefer something more sedate and play golf at our local club, Lancaster. There is also a Garstang Golf Course 5 minutes away. If you like the thought of playing championship courses Royal Lytham St Annes, Royal Birkdale and Royal Liverpool are all within easy access.
Getting to my home
Our home is a 15 minute drive from junctions 32 and 33 of the M6 motorway which runs from Scotland to South of Birmingham, giving you easy access both North and South.
Nearest airport
Manchester and Liverpool airports are both 1 hour away by car. Alternatively, you can take a direct train from Preston or Lancaster to Manchester airport.
Getting around
There is a bus stop 50 metres from the house which takes you to Lancaster or Preston. The buses are every half an hour. Only 400 m away is the bus stop which takes you to Blackpool which also runs half hourly.
Distances from larger cities:
Manchester 45miles
Liverpool 50miles
Chester 65miles
York 100miles

We are a young, fun loving middle aged couple!
We would love to travel more and explore new environments. We both enjoy golf, cycling, walking and eating! We like the mountains, beach and countryside and have enjoyed visiting cities as well. We enjoy the outdoors but also relaxing in a friendly environment
On occasion hopefully our son Daniel (29) and daughter Emily (28) and her partner Tom (25) will travel with us.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure.
