General Overview
Beautiful airy spacious home in great neighborhood, close to wineries and vineyards, and great restaurants and markets. Only 75 minutes from the heart of San Francisco.
In Napa Valley there is wonderful hiking, biking, kayak opportunities as well as hot air balloons that sail across the amazing terroir of the valley. And many great golf courses as well. Very much a place for great door experiences as well as great food, wine, and culture.
Within an hour of Napa are beautiful national and state parks, which offer hiking for all levels, picnicking, swimming, kayaking, surfing, canoeing, paddleboarding, and sightseeing. Plenty of options for golf and tennis too. The Pacific Ocean beaches are beautiful and plentiful for families to enjoy, as are the oyster farms that make for great picnics.
Within 3 hours, you can be in the Sierra Mountains and Lake Tahoe, a spectacular place for hiking, skiing, boating, and swimming.
The Space
Our home is a very modern contemporary home, that is full of individuality, art and warmth. We keep our house and outside grounds well cared for and would do the same for anyone else's home we share. Our open plan kitchen is fully equipped for great cooking, eating and drinking, and creating great memories with family and friends.
The house is on two levels, connected by a spiral staircase. 3 bedrooms and family room are on second floor, with one very large master bath, and one large bath for the second bedroom. The third bedroom is used as a library, but can accommodate another bed.
The downstairs bedroom is in a separate wing of the house, and is set up as an office and has a full bath attached to it. The bedroom can also accommodate a bed, if necessary.
The main floor has a living room and open kitchen leading into the back patio and garden, where dining "al fresco" is always available. We have a BBQ grill, hot plate and other tools for entertaining at night, including lighting throughout the backyard. There is an additional half bath off the living room.
There are also two separate garages that we use for storage and keeping our car inside.

Neighbourhood
Our home is in one of the best quiet residential neighborhoods in Napa next to a small park off primary roads. Minutes from wineries and the heart of Napa Valley, yet 8 minutes from downtown restaurants, tasting rooms, galleries, and shopping. And an hour or so from downtown San Francisco or Pacific Ocean beaches which are spectacular.
Our home is a short walk to a health club/gym with swimming pool, local parks, tennis courts, and bike trails.
Food markets and general shopping is only a few minutes away by car or a 10 minute walk.
We also offer use of our car and two bikes to navigate the area.

We had an absolutely fantastic time in Ron and Naomi's wonderful home in beautiful Napa CA. The home has a cool vibe, every room looks and feels great, lovely backyard patio to enjoy the lovely weather, with every amenity we could want. The location is fantastic, under 5 minutes to Whole Foods / Trader Joe's, gym, spa and under 10 to downtown Napa with endless numbers to top notch restaurants, bars and entertainment. Having lived and worked in Napa for 20 years, Ron is a wealth of knowledge on local everything, including restaurants and the best wineries. Ron and I connected on several calls prior to our exchange to talk through the finer points, and we really enjoyed sharing our PLU experiences and life experiences as well. To summarize, we have been to Napa many times but generally for 3-4 days at a time and always felt a but rushed. By doing a longer term exchange, we felt right at home, could take things a bit slower, and were able to easily make time for walks, gym, and reading a book, in addition to dining / shopping / sipping. Simply an amazing experience. Grazie mille! -
Ron and Naomi’s home was a joy to stay in! For both parties it was a first ever exchange so we were looking forward to the experience. Before the travel date we managed two or three face time calls to have the opportunity to ask questions and say hi…. The Napa Valley was a completely new destination for uz and so it was very exciting. It is a wonderful area if you love wine and the outdoor life… we hiked, cycled and ate and drank ! There is so much to do and places to visit… San Francisco is just over an hours drive . The National Parks are very close…and so we explored the region…. The coast is an hour away with a very rugged coastline but also so amazing beaches. The scenery is quite stunning! The house is beautifully furnished and very spacious as well as extremely well equipped. with an enormous master suite. In a quiet neighbourhood yet near the centre of Napa. The town and area is very lively with everything on hand and great shopping facilities. Ron and Naomi obviously love their home as it is so well presented and we lacked nothing so it wasn’t long before we relaxed and settled. We all kept in touch throughout the stay (on WhatsApp)offering each other further suggestions and any help. Although we haven’t met we feel as though we are friends and look forward to meeting up in the future. On arrival back to our home in the UK the house was completely up together and had been taken care of with a present and a beautiful thankyou card waiting for us!!! A very positive experience overall.

We are Ron and Naomi Scharman, living in beautiful scenic Napa Valley, home of some of the world's greatest wines and world class restaurants, as well as amazing local produce, meat, and fish from the nearby Pacific Ocean. I am originally from New York and Naomi is from Japan, where we met 40 years ago. I have worked in the wine industry since we moved to Napa 20 years ago and found our dream life here in wine country, with only a short distance away having the beauty of San Francisco and the Bay area. Our two grown sons and our three grandchildren live in Southern California where we travel to quite frequently.
We are interested in 2 - 4 week simultaneous or non-simultaneous exchanges in Europe in 2026 during the January - August or end of year timeframes.
