I love this house!!! The moment I stepped foot inside, I knew it was home, and I think you'll feel the same way when you enter.
I've lived in cities from Portland, Oregon to Washington, D.C. but this small town has been and will always be the place that brings me peace and happiness.
The home is 1,400 sq ft of living space comfortably furnished. What you'll love is two separate living areas: a living room on the main floor and a family room in the full finished basement. It's a perfect way for a family or two separate couples to share a home but have separate spaces when you just need to have some privacy or be alone.
If you must work, there's reliable WiFi and a nice HP laser jet printer with paper, as well as some office supplies.
If you are traveling with a small child, I've got you covered with a Pak-N-Play and a safety gate at the top of the stairs.
The beautiful thing about this small town is that there are literally endless opportunities for fun. The community offers various fun events year-round, and no matter what type of recreational outdoor activity you love, it's all nearby (see below for more details).
From Anthony Lakes and the best powder in the Pacific Northwest to the lovely Hells Canyon/Snake River recreation area, you'll find your peace and adventure here.
The space
A beautifully remodeled stucco home built in 1929 features original wood floors, shaker style cabinets, a front porch, and a private back yard with a large brick patio located 8 blocks from downtown. Whether you are as close as the Oregon Coast or as far away as Madagascar, I'm open to trade.
In this two-level home you will find a master bedroom and bath on the main floor, plus a bedroom, half-bath, and a family room in the finished basement (also where the washer and dryer are located).
Need to work while you are traveling? No worries. There's a desk and printer set up in the family room, making it easy for you to get a bit of privacy and quiet time while others are out and about.
For those who enjoy cooking, you'll find a new 5-burner gas range with a convection / air fryer capable oven, a dishwasher, numerous small kitchen appliances, and an outdoor charcoal BBQ. Love cooking? No problem. The kitchen is set up with nice cookware, your choice of small appliances, and a complete service for eight of Fiesta dishware, as well as your choice of coffee makers: standard coffee maker, French Press, or a Breville Grind and Brew coffee machine that gives various brew options. Love to enjoy a cocktail or a nice glass of wine? You have a selection of crystal glassware that make your drinks taste better (okay maybe not, but certainly a nicer experience.)
The master bedroom features a luxurious king bed. and the second room holds a queen bed. Have a small child? There's a Pak-N-Play you can set up so they have their own space. It's also safety friendly with a guard gate at the top of the stairs.
The home also has a one-car garage for guests to use, as well as a long-driveway that accommodates two cars.
Guest access
The home is two stories: a main level and a full finished basement.
Guests have access to all but one room. It's my home, so you will find some personal items remaining in the home while you are there. The up side to that is that you will find a kitchen stocked with spices, a good pantry of necessities, and more. If it's in the home, it's yours to use.
The garage will be available for parking, and there is a lovely outside area that includes a table for four and a charcoal BBQ grill.

Neighbourhood
My home is a residential neighborhood .3 miles from downtown - about a 6 minute walk. The beauty of this small town is that it takes about 5 minutes to go anywhere in town.
Baker City, Oregon is a beautiful small post-card town situated in a valley between the Eagle and Elkhorn Mountains in Eastern Oregon. No matter what outdoor activities you love, this area boasts year-round recreational opportunities that include downhill and cross-country skiing/snowboarding; snowmobiling; fishing; hiking; rock-hounding; kayaking; boating; water sports; and camping.
Baker City is also home to an active art community that hosts First Friday and Third Thursday year-round, as well as local produce stands and a farmers market in the summer.
Need goat milk or cheese? We have a local producer. Are you a fan of adult beverages? Pacific Northwesterners love adult beverages, even in small towns.
Baker County is home to three different coffee roasters, a local vineyard, an award-winning brewery, and an award-winning distillery. Love cheese to go with your wine? The Cheese Fairy is here for you; but if hand-crafted chocolates are your game, there's a fabulous chocolatier located just a few doors down from them. And don't get me started on the fresh-baked daily pastries at Sweet Wife Bakery, the finest breakfast place in town.
Is health your thing? We have a lovely yoga studio that offers a wide variety of options every day of the week, as well as skilled massage therapists, hair stylists, and estheticians.
If being outside brings you life, we have plenty of that, no matter the season.
During the Winter Anthony Lakes Ski Resort - home of the best powder in the Pacific Northwest - is just 45 minutes away.
Throughout the Baker Valley and into the mountains we have a veritable buffet of camping, water sport, and hiking options within a 30 minute drive. There's fishing in all directions, both in town and out during all seasons One of our best-kept secrets is that Eastern Oregon offers excellent rockhounding, bringing gifts from the earth that include Agate, Jasper, Chalcedony, Quarts, and Oregon Jade. Don't worry about rockhounding tools - I have them available for use!
If you love art, you'll be pleased with your visit here. Baker County abounds with artists and hosts multiple events and venues for you to enjoy all of it, whether it is theater, music, or visual art. If the written word is your happy place, we have the fabulous Betty's Books where you can spend an unreasonable amount of time in pursuit of your new favorite book.
For life's ease, the home is situated in a lovely neighborhood walkable to the library, park (with new children's play equipment), downtown and schools.
You can't go wrong with the home or location.
Getting to my home
The best way to get to my home is by flying in to the Pendleton or Boise airports. Alternatively, Interstate 84 runs directly through Baker City, so if you are driving, it's easily accessed. We are 126 miles from Boise, Idaho and 309 miles from Portland, Oregon.
Nearest airport
Pendleton , OR Airport - 99 miles - 1 .5 hour drive
Boise, Idaho Airport - 128 miles - 2 hour drive
Portland, OR Airport - 309 miles - 4.5 hour drive
Getting around
Walking distance to downtown and local schools. It's a rural area, so you'll need a car to get around. However, if you have dirt bikes or bicycles, you'll find multiple trails. I don't have a motorcycle, but I hear the curvy roads in the region offer great touring options for motorcyclists.
