General overview
This is a CURATED NEIGHBORHOOD with no chain stores - only locals. It's magical. My home: Small, simple, stunning kitchen. Dreamy sofa that I often fall asleep on. Access to incredible, art-filled, culture-filled (Italians, Mexicans, French and Spaniards flock to this area) neighborhood. Can walk to over 70 shops, restaurants, gyms, coffee shops, record shops, book shops - all locally owned. NO CHAINS HERE.
The space
1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, centrally located. 5 minutes driving to downtown Dallas, or 15 minutes on the public trolly. A couple with a child or 2 small children could make this work. I also have the possibility of opening up my 2nd bedroom and bathroom if we planned 3 months ahead. So please reach out if interested.
Historic district - most homes are 100 years old, but some new ones are being built as well.
This neighborhood was carefully curated. You WILL NOT SEE chain stores - no Starbucks, GAP, or anything like this. Everyone who owns a store in this area, also live and likely grew up in this area.
What you can walk to: famous taco stand, French restaurants, authentic Afghani food like Nora's restaurant, breadmakers selling their fresh made bread, Mexican restaurants, farm to table restaurants like Written by the Seasons, outdoor Cuba-designed restaurants like Paradiso, vegan coffee shops like Tribal Cafe, 7 coffee shops in total, Hola Cafe with mind-blowing Honduran coffee (the owner is Hondurena), Spanish book stores (owners are from Spain, Italian gelato and pastry shops (2 Italians own 2 shops within walking distance - REAL gelato by the way), Taco y Vino for listening to music on the terrace, jazz bar Reveler's Hall, with music flowing throughout the whole central area of Bishop Arts District, over 20 boutiques, custom made jewely shops, French boutiques (opened by local people who moved here from France), multiple yoga, pilates and exercise studios, lifting weights type gyms, chiropractors, kids' doctors, walking to fancy Kessler Park area with 2 Million dollar homes, Kidds Springs park with huge pool and water slides, Brazilian popsicle stand, Cafe Brazil for late night dining, many bars, trivia nights, REAL Mexican food and also Tex-Mex, candy stores, chocolate stores, really - everything.

Trolley can take you downtown to Perot Museum for Natural History (there's a kid place too!), Art Museum, John F Kennedy Museum where you can look out the window where the shooter stood (a little dark, but a part of history).
And 45 minutes away is Fort Worth - the cowboy history part of this area - rodeos, stockyards (where they walk the cows down the main street like they would have a hundred years ago),
Guest access
3 steps onto the small porch before the front door.
Notes
Would allow using our car if for the right exchange. You don't NEED a car if you only want to stay in Bishop Arts, but Dallas also has a lot to offer outside of Bishop Arts. This could be 2 bedroom 2 bath if we planned 3 months ahead of time also.

Neighbourhood
Historic district, quiet (but 2 blocks away (7-minute walk) from a lot of life and fun! - most homes are 100 years old, but some new ones are being built as well. We are in the middle of the neighborhood being updated, so you'll see new construction on some blocks. No construction near my home.
This neighborhood was carefully curated. You WILL NOT SEE chain stores - no Starbucks, GAP, or anything like this. Everyone who owns a store in this area, also live and likely grew up in this area.

Dallas in general has a million things to do : theme parks, amusement parks, Rigley's Believe it or not museum, Lego land, hundreds of open air shopping locations. I prefer the areas of Knox/Henderson, Lower Greenville, but it's really amazing every little neighborhood.
We have in the north (20 minutes in the car) all Asian area - so authentic Korean (Samsung offices are nearby), Japanese (Toyota Headquarters is nearby), Chinese, Thai. Ethiopian neighborhood, Mexico is all over, but Bishop Arts is the most Mexican neighborhood, Indian neighborhoods, with Indian food from both the north and the south of India. It's incredibly international.
Getting to my home
Uber from airport - 30 minutes to DFW. 15 minutes from Love field. I do not suggest public transportation. This city is very spread out, so it does not work like it does in European cities or New York/Boston etc.
Nearest airport
Love Field is 15 minutes. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is 30 minutes.
Getting around
I am open to giving you my car. I have 2 car seats available as well. I think 1 child in this home is the most we could probably do though since it's 1 bedroom - but open to discussion. I have another apartment that attaches to my home (it's a duplex but they attach), so I could open up both spaces for the right exchange.

Micah
Solo mom with an adorable 3 year old daughter.
We speak Spanish and French in the home and travel to French and Spanish speaking countries as much as possible.
I've stayed a long time in France, and also lived and worked in Mexico and studied in Spain.
I started my own language school for major corporations globally roughly 15 years ago, and also have a Spanish immersion school online for kids 4 - 12. I am a teacher at heart.
I love the freedom working for myself gives my daughter and I to meet new people and learn new languages. We're working on Japanese as our non native language currently!
Open to being hosted, specifically with French or Spanish speakers, since this would give us more time to be immersed in these languages.
We're spontaneous but also big planners, so we're very open to any locations and adventures. We're relaxed people who take things as they come, very respectful and clean. I have 8 Airbnbs in the USA and have 4.9 stars over 8 years, so you can be sure I understand how to take care of properties.
My home in Dallas, Texas USA (amazing Bishop Arts area!) and my cabin in the mountains of Northwest Arkansas in the USA are what I will be putting up on PLU - my primary residence and my vacation residence.
Feel free to message us about trips far into the future. I love a plan.
"We speak French at home, and I'm always looking for hospitality exchange or to visit. Anywhere in France."

We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
On a Monday morning it will look like this (7 minute walk from your front door), but starting Wednesday the streets will have people walking around and people watching. The music hall there on the left is called Reveler's Hall and they have live music with doors open 7 days of the week. Usually Jazz, Swing, Blues, etc.
2 blocks away (7 minute walk), every Friday and Saturday local artists sing on the streets in the Bishop Arts District center.
My living room. New Couch Aug 2024. All my personal items will be put away.
Large pantries - filled with anything - you're welcome to it. Gas stove for proper cooking, farm sink, island, and my favorite tile and colors.
Other view of kitchen.
Dining room with record player.
Front door right in front of sofa.
Hallway from dining room going right to the 1 bedroom and straight to bathroom.
Famous Texas Theater where Lee Harvey Oswald hid from the police after he assassinated John F Kennedy in 1962... 61? 12 minute walk - lots of cool events and shows here.
My friend owns this restaurant - Coco's - Mexican food. Tons of local boutiques all owned by locals. NO CHAINS ALLOWED.
Hispanic coffee shop, lunch and breakfast. Espumoso means foamy -
A recent Bastille Day French festival - this area was originally populated by French settlers in the 1800s.
Large bridge to walk over the Trinity River. About 10 minute drive or less. Could walk in about 40 minutes. This area is called Trinity Grove and it's GREAT for a lunch or dinner - with dancing out in the park area around the 20 restaurants (now shown, but behind the camera).
