I have a cozy 2 bed (avail rooms)/2 bath single-family home with a comfy patio space. It's really the best of both worlds, situated in a quiet suburban neighborhood just 2 stop lights outside of Chicago proper, walkable to grocery, bus, bike path, etc. I also do a fair amount of volunteer hosting of young children, so my home is equipped with basic necessities for infants or toddlers (pack n play, toddler cot, baby bath, baby gate, playpen, etc). I do have a friendly pittie who loves people - during a Hospitality stay she will be here, but she will be away playing with friends at daycare for any non-Hospitality visits (I don't have anyone else petsit her when I'm gone). When she and I are gone, you're welcome to bring your dog to enjoy the fenced yard, walkable neighborhood, and sunbathing patio! There are a number of dog beds and toys available for their comfort. :)
The Space
The main floor has 2BRs, shared full bathroom, dining for 6, living room and kitch. 1 BR has a Cal King bed and luggage rack and the 2nd BR has a Queen bed and luggage rack - I'm also happy to make some space in the closets if preferred. In the basement there is a small bedroom (no closet) and a full bathroom, wet bar with mini fridge and dish washer, laundry room and an open/rec area (that has some limited exercise equipment). TVs on both floors have streaming apps and cable TV, and I have a vinyl record player with a small collection of records (or request one - I love discovering new artists!), microphone set (fun for a karaoke night), and an Oculus VR head set (safest to use in the basement). The driveway and yard are fully fenced in and the back patio area has a hammock and patio set with propane fire pictured.
Guest Access
There are a few steps up to the front door and then about 16 total steps from the main floor down to the basement. Both bathrooms have a full tub.
Notes
Getting to Downtown Chicago:
By car: It's just a 12min drive to O'Hare airport and a 30-50min drive (depending on time of day) to all the sights and tours of downtown Chicago.
By Uber/Lyft: Roughly $30-50 each way to get downtown depending on time and exact location.
By Bus/Train: There are a few options that generally include a 10min walk to the bus stop, 10-15min bus to the Blue Line train, and that (L train system) will get you all over downtown (and to the airport) for cheap. It can all be paid on the Ventra app so it's pretty easy to navigate.
Airport transfers: If you're visiting for a hospitality stay where I'm home, I'm more than happy to pick you up and drop off at O'Hare airport.

Neighbourhood
My home is in a quiet and peaceful/very walkable neighborhood with a small playground a block away, with grocery stores, fast food, and bus stops within 5-10min walk. The North Branch Trail System (20mi of paved bike trail) about a 5min bike ride away. There are a number of nice public golf courses within a 15min drive and you're welcome to borrow my club set/bag if needed while visiting. Guests are also welcome to borrow my road bike and inflatable kayak.
Further out, about a 20-30 drive you have the Chicago Botanic Garden, Ravinia (amazing amphitheatre concert venue), and Rosemont (area with large piano bar, comedy club, dine in theatre, etc). Then of course a bit further out you get the myriad options in downtown Chicago - winters are cold here but you can't beat summer in Chicago!
Getting to my home
I'm 12mins from O'Hare airport, so a cheap Uber or if driving you can park in the driveway/street.

I work in cybersecurity (fully remote) and appreciate the flexibility my job allows for me to travel while working. I am a 2nd generation Rotarian and volunteer with a number of other organizations (youth mentorship, housing, youth in care, etc), devoted dog mom, and avid traveler.
During my visits to your home for any type of exchange, I'm allergic to cats but happy to care for dogs or any other pets/farm animals. I owned a pet care company for 7yrs before the pandemic so pretty comfortable with a range of breeds and species. 🐕🐔🦎🦜🐩🐖
