General overview
Failte Mhor is an end terrace house located in the village of Caol, which is a suburb of Fort William.
Fort William is the largest town in the Highlands and is known as the "Outdoor Capital of the UK". It's a hugely popular destination for visitors.
Ben Nevis (the UK's highest mountain) is visible from the front bedroom windows and dominates the skyline over the town.
The property is immaculately clean and modern and will be a perfect base for you to explore the Scottish Highlands.
The space
The house has a comfortable lounge area which includes a 5 seat leather suite, a large dining table with 6 chairs and a 50 inch flat screen TV.
The kitchen contains a hob, microwave, toaster, air fryer, slow cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer as well as pots / pans, cutlery & crockery.
PLEASE NOTE - THERE IS NO OVEN (but the air fryer can cook small oven items).
There is 1 x small double en suite room, 1 x twin room and 1 x single room. Each room has a bed, bedside cabinet, wardrobe, hairdryer and 32 inch TV.
There is super fast wifi throughout.
All bed linen and towels are provided.
All household items are available as you might expect (Iron & ironing board, indoor clothing drying racks, cleaning equipment, etc)
The house has oil fired central heating and double glazing so is warm and cosy.
Guest access
The house has the living room and kitchen downstairs.
There are a total of 13 stairs to get to the upper level of the house. There is a handrail on one side.
Upstairs houses the 3 bedrooms.
The double room has its own en suite shower room and there is a further shower room shared by the twin and single rooms.
The front garden has a small decked area and a 6 seater picnic table to sit and dine out on nice days.
The back garden has 2 clothes drying lines and 2 secure storage sheds available for guest use.
Notes
Children aged 7 yrs and older are welcome.
The house is not suitable for younger children due to not having child friendly safety features. The upstairs windows are escape windows with no safety catches. The external doors have thumb screw locks on the inside meaning small children can escape easily.
I have prepared a comprehensive guest handbook which contains all the information you would require for your stay. It contains all my recommendations for places to visit, things to do, places to eat out, etc.
Well behaved dogs are welcome at my place.
They are not permitted to be on the beds but otherwise have free reign of the house.
I ask that dogs are not left unattended in the property.

Neighbourhood
The house is an end terraced property set in a village location.
There is free, communal parking directly outside the house.
It is a busy little village but the neighbourhood is usually very quiet after 10pm.
A 5 minute walk in one direction from the door will take you onto the world famous Caledonian Canal tow path and in the other direction onto the shore promenade.
The property has a children's playpark a one minute walk from the door.
The local grocery store is a 2 minute walk away.
The pub which is family friendly and serves meals is a 10 minute walk.
There are also cafe's, hairdressers, a laundrette and various take aways all nearby too.
Fort William town centre is just 3 miles away.
Getting to my home
I will arrange for you to have the "What3words" locator which will place a pin directly over the house and make it easy for your GPS to find the property.
Nearest airport
Inverness Airport is 74 miles (1.5hrs drive)
Glasgow airport is 102 miles (2.5hrs drive)
Edinburgh Airport is 129 miles (3hrs drive)
Getting around
Having a car is by far the easiest way to travel around in the Highlands.
If you are using public transport, the bus route into the main town is just a 2 minute walk from the house.
The nearest train station (Banavie) is a 10 minute walk and there are plenty local taxi forms operating in the area too.
There is bicycle hire available a 5 minute walk away from the house if you want to cycle to explore.

Louise
Hi, my name is Louise.
I am almost 50 years old. Approaching a "big" birthday and recent events in my life have made me re-evaluate life in general and I am looking to start travelling more.
I am fortunate enough to own a modest 3 bedroomed holiday let on the West Coast of Scotland.
I am looking to exchange this for similar (or smaller) properties globally.
For closer to home (UK) exchanges, I'd also consider pet friendly properties so that my 4 yr old, well behaved, springer spaniel / labrador cross dog can travel with me.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
