Our three bed home (with a 4th bedroom / dayroom downstairs) and barn (which has a separate playroom / home Ed space) is right next to a farm, and sits on a brook in a rural, Leicestershire village steeped in history. The cottage was built in the late 1800s and is part of the Pochin Estate. It’s quaint and cute but with all modern needs covered. A large front garden with drive for three cars and a cute cottage style back garden.
The space
There is a large double bedroom, two singles and a bathroom upstairs.
Downstairs is a galley style kitchen, and two reception rooms. One we use as a living and dining area, the other is currently converted to another bedroom to accommodate our teens.
Outside is a large front garden and drive, and a medium sized backgarden with veggie patch and herb garden as well as two socialising / eating areas.
There is also a barn, (which used to process milk into cheese a hundred years ago) and still has all original fittings.
Part of the barn is converted to a playroom and the other part currently used for gardening, storage and housing a big fridge freezer - although I am in the process of creating a more functional space in this area.
Guest access
Ground floor and first floor with one flight of stairs.
With the downstairs bedroom it could be accessible for those with more difficulty in walking but it isn’t wheelchair friendly.
Notes
We have a family home, so if you’re looking for somewhere sleek and modern and pristine to stay in you shouldn’t choose our home. However if you want an old, quaint, comfortable, warm and rustic place to enjoy England from, we’re the home for you.

Neighbourhood
Our detached cottage sits on a road with 4 other houses, next to a humpback bridge which leads to a farm. If you walk (or drive) past the farm you’re into open countryside and farmland and at the bottom of the road is a woodland. (We call this the secret woodland). We next to a brook that runs through the village and offers lovely walks. There are two pubs in the village, and a small garden/ coffee shop. However within a 5 min drive is a big supermarket and shopping centre.
It’s remote and rural whilst being very connected to everything you need.
Getting to my home
Fly into London or East Midlands airport. Then take a train to either Leicester city or Syston and then a Uber.
There are buses but they’re very infrequent.
Nearest airport
East Midlands Airport is 30 mins drive away.
