Neighbourhood

Saltwater is located mid-island on SSI, tucked away from the street, and centrally located to see ALL of the island’s beauties, not just the beaches … with bike trails all around the island. We are 1/2 mile from entry into the marsh, to set off kayaking or paddle boarding.

Brunswick Regional Airport (BQK; 17 miles; 25 min); Jacksonville International Airport (JAX; 60 miles; 1 hour 15 min); Savannah International Airport (SAV; 84 miles; 1 hour 30 min)

Getting Around

Bike paths are throughout the island but it’s best if you have a car for trips to the mainland (and quick trips around the island).

Hi everyone! Here’s (somewhat) interesting tidbits about us, Bill and Tamara: - Bill is retired US Army Ranger (yes, I always feel very safe with him!) - Tamara is still working helping others plan for retirement (it will be my turn someday!) - empty nesters (parents of a fabulous 32 year son, Colin, who is getting married to amazing Anneliese in April 2026 ... and now we are not so patiently waiting for a grandchild!) - devoted owners of our two Vizsla pups, Oscar and Olive (simply the sweetest!) - living the dream in Saint Simons Island, GA (we have 2 homes here for possible exchange) - almost 2 years doing home exchanges and loving it! (concept is brilliant!!) - we not only love to travel but NEED to travel (it’s good for our soul and spirit!) Where do we want to go? Anywhere! We’re game for long weekends (US), longer stays, big city, and off the beaten path. We love the big cities, but more so the smaller towns that really showcase the personality of the area/country. It will often just be the two of us traveling, but sometimes the four of us (Colin and Anneliese) or perhaps my sisters or other family. Sometimes it may just be Colin and Anneliese (they live in one of the exchange homes we have on the site). When possible for US stays, we would love to bring our well behaved pups!
