General overview

Super comfy as well as super practical home. Great central location, easy walking to many attractions, and bus stops outside the door. Own parking. Our home is the top two floors of a large Edwardian corner end of terrace townhouse (we are currently operating the ground floor of the house as a successful Airbnb) Our part of the house is completely private, with a separate entrance. We are located in the heart of Douglas, the capital city of the Isle of Man, which is an island in the middle of the Irish Sea. We are within easy walking distance of Douglas Promenade and the main shopping area. Also close by are attractions such as the Gaiety Theatre (Villa Gaiety complex) and the Manx Museum. We have bus stops right outside the door if you want to explore the many other areas of the Island. The Isle of Man is famous for many things such as its Viking heritage and history, as well as its unique transport systems in the form of steam trains, electric trams and horse trams. Not forgetting the world famous TT motorbike races. And Manx cats! And also we have the longest continuous parliament in the world. Quite a lot for an Island only 33 miles long and 13 miles wide! (Population approx 84,000, if you’re interested! )

The space

Upon entering the front door (several steps up to front door), you then ascend a flight of stairs, leading to the main living area. On this floor you will find a toilet and washbasin. Next door to the toilet is a utility room with sink and lots of storage, as well as a separate washing machine and tumble dryer. Further on is a lounge with comfortable seating (recliner sofa) and a large TV. This room also benefits from a delightful window seating area. Onwards to the open plan kitchen/dining/general living area. It’s very well equipped (large fridge freezer, dishwasher, instant hot water tap etc) There’s a lovely dining area, complete with window seating, as well as a comfy leather sofa. There’s also a large TV in the room too. This room is where we spend a lot of our time. Up the next flight of stairs is an en suite double bedroom (currently needs updating, so no pics yet) Then onto another bedroom with a super king size bed, and lots of storage. Next to this room is a further bedroom with a double bed, and (very) distant sea views! The family bathroom is alongside the double bedroom. It is a spacious room with a shower which has good pressure and a roll top bath. We’re still in the midst of redecorating the double bedroom and the bathroom. Photos will follow soon, hopefully!!

Neighbourhood

We have numerous grocery shops within easy walking distance. There is a Tesco around 15 mins walk. There are various takeaways and restaurants nearby. There is a chemist within 5 mins walk of the house. The hospital is approximately a ten minute drive away. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe.

Getting to my home

The Isle of Man Steampacket provide ferry services to the Isle of Man. EasyJet, Loganair and Aer Lingus fly to the Isle of Man from various destinations in the U.K.

Nearest airport

Ronaldsway airport is around a 30 minute drive from our place. Taxis and buses are readily available.

Getting around

Local shops as well as the town centre are easily accessible on foot. Bus stops are located very close to our house, for travel into town, or to other areas of the island.
