Sicily is a vibrant island in the Mediterranean, known for its stunning landscapes, rich history, and delicious food. It’s a place where ancient ruins meet charming coastal towns, and where you can find everything from sandy beaches to the dramatic slopes of Mount Etna, one of Europe’s most active volcanoes.
The island’s culture is a mix of influences from all the different peoples who have called it home over the centuries, including Greeks, Romans, and Arabs. This blend is most evident in Sicily’s food, with its fresh seafood, pasta dishes, and sweet treats like cannoli and the famous gelato con brioche.
Whether you're wandering through the lively streets of Palermo, exploring the ancient temples in Agrigento, or just relaxing by the sea in places like Taormina or Cefalù, Sicily has something for everyone. It's a place full of warmth, character, and unforgettable experiences.
The space
Nestled on a charming olive farm just five minutes from the heart of Sciacca, this cozy holiday home offers the perfect blend of comfort and rustic charm. The house features two bedrooms: one with a king-sized bed, and the other with a bunk bed, ideal for families or small groups. The bathroom includes both a bathtub and a shower, providing a relaxing space to unwind.
The lounge is thoughtfully furnished with two couches, one of which doubles as a sleeper sofa, a standing desk for any remote work needs, and an Apple TV for your entertainment. The dining area is spacious with a table perfect for meals or gatherings. WiFi is available via a SIM card, and we’re happy to help you set it up.
The kitchen, though quaint, is well-equipped with two fridges, an oven, a stove, and a dishwasher—though with the delicious food in Sciacca, you might find little need to cook! There’s also a washing machine for your convenience.
Step outside onto the covered verandah, where you can enjoy your meals at the outdoor table while overlooking the peaceful olive trees. The farm also boasts a variety of fruit trees, adding to the charm of your stay.
With beautiful hidden beaches nearby and the lively town of Sciacca just a short drive away, this home is a perfect retreat to experience the best of Sicily. Plus, Palermo is only 90 minutes away, making it easy to explore more of the island.

**Home Swap Wanted: Quiet Family Missing the African Bush**
Hello! We're a tidy, very quiet family of four from South Africa, now living in Norway Bergen. We have two lovely daughters, aged 5 and 9, who are super well-behaved. We keep our home obsessively clean, so you can trust your house is in good hands.
I'm a chartered accountant, and my husband has a PhD in climate science. We're non-smokers and have no pets. We're really missing the South African bush and are looking for a home swap.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
