Notes
San Lorenzo de El Escorial and its monastery are declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Other places of interest that can be visited are the cities of Segovia and Ávila, also declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Both cities are 45-50 minutes away by car. You can also go to Ávila by train from El Escorial. And of course, visit the city of Madrid and all its great cultural offering, which is about 45 km away. You can go by car, bus or train.
If you like nature, you will also find many options. In the same town you can visit the beautiful forest of Herrería, climb the Abantos peak and many other routes. We are on the edge of the Guadarrama National Park where the options for hiking, cycling, etc. are countless.
