General overview

Bergen, Norway, is a picturesque coastal city known for its stunning natural scenery, vibrant cultural life, and rich history. Nestled between mountains and fjords, Bergen offers a unique blend of urban charm and breathtaking landscapes. Famous for its historic wharf, Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the city boasts colorful wooden buildings that harken back to its days as a major trading hub. The city's lively fish market, bustling harbor, and numerous museums, galleries, and music venues contribute to a vibrant cultural scene. Adored especially by the outdoorsy types - Bergen's surrounding nature amount the most beautiful in the world with opportunities for hiking, boating, and exploring the nearby fjords. Crime is virtually inexistent so children as small as 6 walk the streets freely. Our apartment is on the third floor (with an elevator) with a large scenic window and amazing views. Large wrap around balcony. Because of the build of property, the exit on the other side of the apartment opens to the ground floor which has a large garden to play in. Large lounge (with double sleeper couch) and kitchen. 2 large bedrooms (king and queen bed) and 1 smaller bedroom (short single bed) that we use for the smaller child. 1 walk in cupboard, 2 good sized bathrooms (one includes a bathtub as well), small storage room The house also has a second lounge with TV perfect for families who don’t want to watch Bluey or Paw Patrol anymore!!! Bybanen can take you anywhere in Bergen. Bybanen stop is only 800m from my house. 2 covered garage spaces with electric charger. 10 min drive from airport or 15 minutes on the bybanen. Breathtaking train rides and single or multiple day fjordcruises. Noted as some of the most breathtaking views in the world. More info can be given if required. No pets/no smoking/loud parties allowed. Snow usually occurs end Nov to Feb. However this is constantly changing and cannot be guaranteed. That said, a short train ride can take you to multiple snow resorts/cabins for single/multiple day trips to add to your vacation. Advice in this respect can be given. Norwegians are extremely proficient in English, so language is not an issue. House swap only. Although we are open to other countries, we are mostly looking for a stay in a safe bush reserve in or near South Africa. Minimum 3 weeks.
