General Overview

We are a family of 5 who would love to travel more often with our children & extended family. Our children are 5, 6 & 15 years old. We would love to travel within the United States and Europe. We just want to explore the whole world and can’t wait to get started. We have traveled on our own many times, but are interested in seeing how the people like us exchange works. Our home in Sandbridge Beach in Virginia. Our home has ocean and bay views with only a few steps to the ocean front. Sandbridge Beach is a locals beach but 20 minutes away there is plenty of nightlife and over 40 blocks of boardwalk to run, bike, swim and play lots of sports! We are 3 hours from Washington DC and 2 hours from Richmond, VA. Nearest airport is 15 minutes-Norfolk, VA. Largest shipyard in the world is here...Lots of history to explore - Williamsburg, Va is within 45 minutes too! Come live the beach life!!

Nearest airport

Norfolk International Airport (ORF) • Just ~24 miles (≈ 36 min drive) by car to Sandbridge.  • Driving directions: From ORF, take Norview Avenue → merge onto I-64 East / I-264 East → follow to Virginia Beach / Princess Anne → continue south on Sandbridge Road. • Approximate total time under normal traffic conditions: 35–45 minutes. Richmond International Airport (RIC) • From Sandbridge to RIC is a much longer drive: about 109 miles (via Virginia Beach → I-64 west)  • Depending on traffic, expect 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes. • Suggested route: head north via Sandbridge Road → connect to I-264 / I-64 → travel west through Hampton Roads into I-64 toward Richmond → exit onto Airport Drive / VA-281 to reach RIC.

Getting Around

Sandbridge is a peaceful coastal retreat, tucked a bit off the beaten path — which is part of its charm! The best way to enjoy the area is with your own car or a rental, giving you the freedom to explore beaches, Back Bay, local dining, and nearby attractions at your own pace. While ride-share services like Uber and Lyft are available, they can be limited in this area and may cost more than in central Virginia Beach. For the most convenient and budget-friendly experience, we recommend planning to have a vehicle during your stay.

Our home base is a bright and comfortable condo in Sandbridge Beach, Virginia, just steps away from the ocean. Sandbridge is known as the quieter, more relaxed side of Virginia Beach—perfect for families, nature lovers, and anyone who enjoys the sound of waves, fresh seafood, and a friendly coastal community. We are a mix of parents, children, and extended family (including “Gammy” and a handful of fun cousins/nieces/nephews) who enjoy discovering new cultures together. Sometimes we travel as a whole family, and sometimes we sneak in the occasional adults-only getaway. Either way, we’re always looking for opportunities to show our children the world while also connecting with people in new places. Our condo is cozy, welcoming, and family-friendly, with all the comforts you’d want for a beachside stay. We’d love to host fellow travelers who want to experience the calm beauty of Sandbridge—whether that’s long walks on the beach, dolphin watching, fishing, kayaking, or just relaxing on the deck with the ocean breeze. We’re open to exchanges anywhere in the world—from bustling cities full of history and culture, to peaceful countryside escapes, to other beach destinations. Our biggest wish is to create meaningful memories, both at home and abroad, and to treat each exchange with care, respect, and gratitude.
