General overview

The cabin is set in a peaceful area, within close driving distance to beautiful waterfalls and mountains. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place on the Golden Circle and in easy driving distance to incredible waterfalls, black beaches, puffin-sighting, glaciers and more. The cabin is perfect in any season, not only in the summer time. In the winter you can enjoy the northern lights in the hot tub and in the autumn the colors of nature are amazing.

The space

The cabin has a joint living, dining and kitchen area. Main bedroom is suitable for two adults (double bed 160 cm). Second bedroom has a smaller bed (120 cm), suitable for 2 children or very close friends. Loft has two mattresses. Outside is a big patio where you can eat out in nice weather or relax in the hot tub. In all it is possible to accommodate 6 persons, but more comfortable for 5. Bathroom has a shower.

Guest access

The cabin is located in a "gated" area (a bar over the road) When arriving at the area, if I am not able to meet up with you, you will have to call me at the gate/road-bar in order for me to open it for you (it is only possible to open the gate with specific phones). After you have accessed the cabin you will have a phone for your own use in order to access the area by your self during your stay.

Notes

Bear in mind, winters can be harsh (especially december, january and february), some days mountain-roads from Keflavik/Reykjavik to the southern part of Iceland (where the cabin is located) CAN be closed (this usually only happens a rare few days and only for short periods, usually only for a day or so, at a time).

Neighbourhood

Natural hot springs, geothermal spa´s, a few local restaurants (by car), magnificent nature, waterfalls, glaciers, black beaches, etc., peace and quiet.

Getting to my home

The international airport for Iceland is Keflavík. You would need to drive from Kaflavík, through Reykjavík (40 min), where I recommend stocking up on groceries, the drive to my cabin which takes around 1 hour and 15 min.

Nearest airport

Keflavík, 140 km, total drive takes around 2 hours.

Getting around

A car is necessary when staying in my cabin. A few grocery-stores are in fairly close proximity (20 km or 20 min by car), but I recommend all my guests to do their grocery-shopping in more budget-friendly grocery-stores in Reykjavík (en-route to the cabin) or the more close by towns Selfoss (55 km) or Hveragerði (60 km).

Valgerður

I'm a science teacher from Iceland and I love to travel. When I travel I like to stay in accommodation's where I can cater to my own needs, I seek to relax, experience amazing food and culture as well as nature. I offer the same in my little cabin, which is located on the Golden Circle. Visitors can really relax here and enjoy the amazing nature all around. I am open to all kinds of destinations! Will admit, as we do have pretty short summers here in Iceland, I am keen on sunny destinations, but also like city-breaks... have rarely travelled outside Europe! I can welcome you at more or less any time, but I need to travel during school-breaks, as I am a teacher (summer holiday is from mid-June to mid-August, winter-breaks at end of October and end of February each year, only approx. 4-6 days (can sometimes prolong them), as well as during Christmas/New-years or during the Easter-break.
