Getting Around
Getting Around. We are less than a 5 minute walk to the Saturday market and downtown. Creston.
In Creston:
β’ Walking & Biking: The town is compact and walkable, especially around downtown. Bike lanes and low traffic make cycling a great option in spring to fall.
β’ Driving: A personal vehicle is the most practical way to get around. Thereβs limited public transit, so some locals rely on their cars, especially for errands or heading out of town.
β’ Kootenay Rideshare & Local FB Groups: Great for coordinating rides or finding local transport help.
β’ BC Transit (Limited Service): Creston has limited bus service via BC Transitβs Health Connections for scheduled trips to Cranbrook and other medical centers.
Around the Kootenays:
β’ Scenic Drives: Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) is your main route in and out. Expect stunning views and winding mountain roads.
β’ Ferries: Free inland ferries like the Kootenay Lake Ferry connect you to places like Nelson and Kaslo.
β’ Regional Flights: From Cranbrook (1.5 hrs from Creston), you can fly to Calgary or Vancouver.

β’ Lady Slipper Trail β wildflowers and views over the valley.
β’ Goat River Trail β lush and shaded, following the river.
β’ Kootenay-Columbia Discovery Centre & Wetlands: Great for birdwatching and peaceful walks.
β’ Cycling: The Creston Valley offers easy road biking through orchards, farmland, and vineyards.
β’ Fruit Stands & Wineries: Visit Wynndel, Skimmerhorn, or Baillie-Grohman wineries for tastings. Local cherries, peaches, and apples are legendary.
β’ Fishing & Kayaking: Kootenay River, Duck Lake, and nearby small lakes offer calm waters and good fishing.
Beyond Creston:
β’ Nelson: A funky artsy town on Kootenay Lake, great for boutiques, cafes, and beaches.

Jane & Matthew
Matthew and I look forward to starting our adventures with PLU! We have a beautiful little house in the East Kootenays. Specifically Creston, BC, Canada π¨π¦. We have 2 little pups, Lucy and Walter, and a precious 18 year old outdoor cat. We see exchanging locally with the pups and adventuring elsewhere just the 2 of us! π
"GLOBE to offer. Weβd like an exchange but we also have a GLOBE. Matthew has a big birthday the end of July 2026. Iβm planning ahead! Looking for a place to drive to from Creston BC Canada. Let me know what you have. Open to any and all."

"We had a crazy idea that we could squeeze in a 3 week eastern Canada π¨π¦ trip. Flexible dates about 3-4 weeks. Montreal, Mahone Bay (or coastal NS) then PEI. Mid August-mid September. But very flexible. This year OR next year maybe π€·π»ββοΈ"
