General overview
A beautiful and unique villa on the island of Amorgos, Cyclathes, Greece. The house has panoramic sea views, large garden, complete privacy and a 20 minute walk to get to. Not for everyone but for those who like nature, walking and still want to have access (walking) to charming Cycladic island beaches, restaurant, cafes and bars will love it! Completely off grid so we rely on solar panels and cisterns. There is WiFi and air conditioning but it’s all solar powered and you really feel connected to nature at all times but with a beautiful villa feel.
The space
A family home (where I grew up) built in the early 1970s largely following the traditional local style (bamboo and chestnut beam ceilings, white interior and exterior, micro-cement bathroom and kitchen surfaces etc) but with some inspiration from my parents' many travels. The house has 4 bedrooms (one is a children's room), 1 large bathroom, kitchen, living room. There is also a large panoramic terrace and large garden surrounding property.
Guest access
Our Greek house is pretty unique - it's a villa style and beautiful but is really only for those that enjoy and relish a hike and want to be close-ish to fun village vibes but also a bit isolated .
It's a 20 min (10 min uphill) walk up /down a goat path from nearest road. Also 15 mins walk to two different beaches and 25 mins to one of 4 villages (still 20 min walk involved).
That means at night walking up with flashlights and feeling comfortable and steady footed. It's totally safe from any sort of crime or people concerns and our daughters (now 10 and 8 years old have gone every year since they were babies and walk up/down comfortably) but not for everyone!
Notes
The house is completely off grid: solar powered and water from cisterns and no cars anywhere around. So it's for people who are ok with energy/water conservation and don't mind NOT having hair dryers for example;) There is some air conditioning (solar powered again) in the house but not in every room. There is also refrigeration, freezer, lights and WiFi etc but just need to be mindful.

Neighbourhood
The island is traditional Cyclathes style with white houses and blue and green windows/shutters/doors against background of deep blue sea and dry mountainous terrain. Amorgos is a mountainous island with lots of walking trails and traditional villages.
The villages are really traditional and lovely. Very lively at night and beautiful to explore during the day.
Getting to my home
You can get to the island only by ferry. You can fly to Mykonos or Santorini and it is a 2hr ferry from either of those islands. Or you fly to Athens and a longer ferry ride (9 hrs usually). I would suggest only going between April (Greek Easter - dates vary by year) and mid October. After that the island 'closes down' and ferries from Mykonos/Santorini no longer run and only for those interested in winter island vibes;)
Getting around
Walking and hiking;). But also you probably will need a rental car which we can help recommend or you can book online. The nearest road/parking lot is 20 mins rugged walk away.

Family of 4 including two daughters 10 and 8 years old. We live in East London and have a unique experience family holiday house on a remote Greek island where I grew up. We like adventure and also chilling. We like authentic experiences, discovering the real place, eating the local foods and experiencing nature or the local vibe of a city.
