Our townhouse is located on the Windward side of Oahu, with lush green rolling hills, tropical flowers, and white sand beaches. Our home has 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 double floor futon/low loft, 1 low loft). The complex has a large saltwater pool and hot-tub. We are conveniently located within easy walking distance (15min) of Safeway, Starbucks and several tasty restaurants (Ramen, Korean, Hawaiian BBQ, Pizza, Sushi/Steak, and Upscale Fish). Castle Beach is 20min walk/3 min drive (sandtoys, chairs, boogie boards to borrow). We live directly on a bus line for easy access to downtown Kailua shops, restaurants, and beaches. Honolulu and Waikiki are easy 25min drive. Northshore beaches are 45min (highway or scenic windward route)
The Space
1200Sqft townhouse with 2 beautiful spacious enclosed lanais (patios) and 1 balcony. 3 bedrooms. 1 Queen, and 2 kid rooms. 1 kid room with full sized low loft, and 1 kid room with double floor futon under full sized low loft. 2 full bathrooms with tubs, 1/2 bathroom with large washer and dryer. Living room, kitchen, Lanai with table for family dining.
Guest Access

Notes

Five Stars!!
We had such a great stay at Lydia’s place in Kailua. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was peaceful and friendly, and having the pool nearby was a nice bonus.
The location was perfect — close to beautiful Kailua and Lanikai beaches, and just a short drive to groceries, shops, and restaurants. We explored all over the island during our stay, visiting the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the North Shore, but it always felt great to come “home” to Lydia’s place at the end of the day.
We would happily stay again next time we’re on Oahu!
Thank you! So glad you had such a great stay. Happy to do another island hop some time.
Lydia and Chris epitomize the PLU spirt of community. They were so kind to offer us a hospitality stay so we could take in two days on Oahu forPearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center during our week long trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. Lydia was very willing to offer suggestions for helping with our logistical planning to try and work both of these sites into our itinerary. Without her helpful guidance, it most likely would not have been possible to see both PH and the PCC. The family was very accommodating and greeted us after a long day 1at the PCC. Their guest room was perfect, individual room air unit, comfy bed, private bath and the softest towels I have ever used! They were so gracious with an offer of morning tea and some great conversation that allowed us to feel like we had connected even though our stay was one night. Chris is retired military helicopter pilot, as is our son, so being part of the military family made our time even more special! We have extended an invitation for the Haase family to come visit us in Georgia and we Joe they take us up on it! A delightful family, warm, welcoming and memorable.
Thank you for such a kind note. I’m delighted all your Hawaiian adventure goals were met. We enjoyed our visit with you and hope our PLU lives cross again. You are welcome back anytime.
Lydia and her family were amazing and welcoming. Her home is very comfortable and perfectly located to explore any part of the island. We loved caring for the kitty!
Great to get to know you. You and your nieces are welcome back anytime.
Lydia and Chris welcomed us as if we were old friends, rather than just meeting for the first time.
Lydia gave us recommendations of where to visit during our stay, which was very helpful.
They made sure that we had everything we would need during our stay.
Many shops and restaurants were in a
short walking distance, and the pool was just outside the door.
I'm so happy to have made new friends.
We hope to see them in Kelowna.
So fun to get to know you both! We are looking forward to a Canada adventure in the future!
We loved our week at Lydia’s fabulous townhome in Oahu. It was situated in a lovely part of the island, close to lots of shops and restaurants, and an easy drive to gorgeous beaches, Honolulu and pretty much h every where you’d want to go. Lydia was a pleasure to connect with and the exchange was seamless (well, a couple of minor things broke on our watch and I reached out to Lydia to address and for us to resolve). Their home is really great you want a place that is comfortable, well equipped and in a great area! We would happily stay again (and I’m quite certain Lydia and her family will be friends of ours for years to come).
You all were wonderful guests and took great care of our home, car, and fur child. We’d welcome a future swap
What a wonderful experience I had at Lydia’s place! Their location on the windward side of Oahu made it easy to see both the city of Honolulu/Waikiki and the wild beaches of the North Shore and their own Kailua. I explored a different area each day and then relaxed on their lanai with their sweet Mica cat each evening, listening to the laughter at the swimming pool just steps away. Make sure to visit Koalua Ranch, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and Disney’s Ailua Resort while you’re here!
You were a wonderful guest and I was amazed at all the places you went! Glad you had a wonderful stay.
Lydia and Chris (and family) were all welcoming and wonderful. Lydia is easy to communicate with. She had many great suggestions on where to go on the island, and even gave me a book she had made about her place and the area.
We did a simultaneous swap. When I got back to my place, it was spotless. We did share cars on each side, and that all worked out well too. The whole experience was perfect. Looking forward to doing it again.
Fantastic exchange! From first contact Bill was a pleasure to plan with. This was both our first sim swap and it all worked out beautifully. Bill was organized and responsive both before and during the exchange. His home was a perfect base for both relaxing and exploring all of Maui. The home is well organized and easily slept my family of 5. The Lanai and morning ocean views with my coffee was a highlight. No bugs, open doors, steady breeze, and fans kept us comfortable cool. Bill gave me great local info for a turtle beach, restaurant, and nearby surf lessons. Home was well set up for easy cooking and stocked with beach essentials. Walkability to multiple restaurants, cafes, shave ice, and beach was a huge plus. Really enjoyed meeting Bill and his daughter when we handed off our car on both sides of this exchange. Hope to island swap again in the future..
Bill and his daughter were fantastic guests. My home was exactly as I left it and even a bit better stocked with a few extra groceries. They took great care of my island car as well. My furry host, Mica was happy and relaxed when we arrived home. Bill was also kind enough to txt a pic and updates of our cat during the week. Would absolutely welcome them back anytime.
Susan and Rick were lovely guests for a quick hospitality stay. Susan was easy to plan with, very responsive, and considerate of our family’s needs/routine. They were very respectful of our home and easy company. It was lovely to have time to get to know them both. Would welcome them back for a longer hospitality or proper swap.
Marlene and her 2 nieces were fantastic guests and took great care of my home, car, and cat. Marlene was super easy to plan with and quick to respond to texts. I loved that I was able to pick her up from the airport, get to know her, settle her into my home before she gave us a ride back to the airport that night. Marlene sent me adorable pics of my cat every day and it was clear that he was happy with her company. They left my home spotless and my island car cleaner inside then I gave it to them. Would welcome Marlene and any of her travel partners back anytime.
Tina and Derek were wonderful guests. Super low maintenance and lovely company. So glad our lives crossed and you are welcome back anytime.
Naomi and her family were absolutely lovely guests. From the start, communication was fast and easy. They took great care of our home, car, and precious cat Mica. They were very respectful of our house rules and went above and beyond to adhere to them. They left our house tidy and laundry done. They even cleaned my sandy island car. We ended this swap with a new friendship and desire to cross paths again. So grateful to have made this swap and would absolutely welcome Naomi and her family back again.
We loved staying at your home, exploring your island, caring for Mica … and most of all, I loved meeting you and your family! Looking forward to our paths crossing again!
This was my first swap. Laura was the perfect guest to get me started on this platform. From the start she was a clear communicator, responded promptly to all questions, and helped me feel relaxed leading up to the swap. After all the messaging Laura really did feel like a friend when I picked her up from the airport. It was fun getting to know her before she dropped my family back to the airport that night.
She took great care of my home, car, and cat. It was fun to watch her exploring my island home Oahu through her Facebook posts. Her kindness leaving us Georgia treats and a local gift certificate was well appreciated. Overall a great first swap and would happily welcome Laura back in the future. I look forward to creating an east coast adventure to include Laura’s home in Georgia someday.
