General overview

Our family house offers the perfect location to explore London with its iconic places, neighbourhoods, food markets and museums. It is located in a quiet, safe, and green estate - which sometimes makes us forget that we even live in the city! Our neighbourhood, Woolwich, is very well-connected to all key areas in London. It has very nice pubs, bakeries, shops and parks, which makes it a lovely place to live and hang out. Our house is also the perfect place to do day trips to the coast, being only an hour away from the beach!

The space

Our home is super welcoming, and spacious. On the ground floor, we have a cozy living room filled with books for both kids and adults, a variety of toys, and a vinyl player that we love using whenever we're at home. We also love houseplants, so you'll find them in every corner of the house, adding a touch of greenery and life to our space. On the same floor, you'll find our dining room, a well-equipped kitchen, and a toilet. Upstairs, the first floor serves as our sleeping area, with three comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom with both a bath and a toilet. Two of the bedrooms are spacious, offering ample storage for all your belongings and overlooking our garden. There's also a charming kids’ room and a snug office space, perfect for working from home (which could also be easily converted into a fourth bedroom with a double bed if you wanted). We’ve decorated our home with a variety of paintings, prints and pictures from our trips. When the sun makes an appearance - it does happen in London! - , we love spending time in our garden, having a barbecue, doing some gardening, and playing with the kids.

Neighbourhood

Woolwich is a lively neighborhood in southeast London with a mix of old and new. The area has a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants, especially around the revitalised Royal Arsenal site. The walk along the Thames offers great views over London and a pleasant place to relax and have a coffee. Woolwich is only 10 min away from iconic Greenwich. You’ll find the famous Royal Observatory and the Greenwich Meridian. I guarantee that you will fall in love with the stunning view - the best viewpoint in London in my opinion! Greenwich Market is also a great place for unique crafts and tasty street food.

Nearest airport

We are 2 stops away from London city airport. From Heathrow (the main airport), you can simply hop on the Elizabeth tube line and get off after a few stops. For other airports (Stansted, Luton, Gatwick), it will take you around 1h/1h30 by car/taxi or train to reach our house

Getting around

Traveling around London and from our house is very convenient. The extensive bus network makes it easy to get from one point to another quickly and efficiently. The closest bus stop to our house is just a 5-minute walk away. Additionally, the tube (2 different lines) provides a fast connection to central London, with destinations like Tottenham Court Road, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and the City reachable in about 25 minutes. For a more leisurely way to explore, we have bikes (including kid’s seats) available in the garage that you can use to cycle around the neighbourhood and further afield. Just 10 minutes away is Greenwich Park, which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful parks in London. In case you’re interested, we also have a car for your use.

We're a bilingual family of four: I’m French, my husband is British, and we have 2 young kids under 4. We love traveling, though we've never done a house swap before. Our adventures have taken us to China, Japan, Morocco, Fiji, the US, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Greece, and more. Before our kids were born, we were avid explorers, walking, sightseeing, and traveling extensively within each country. Nowadays, we prefer staying in one place and enjoying a nice, relaxing time together! After living in Madrid and Paris, we've been living in London for the past five years and absolutely love the big city lifestyle. Every weekend, we take advantage of the countless activities available and enjoy spending time with our friends. We also appreciate the peace and quiet of our home, and I’m sure you would enjoy it as well! The great location of our place means we can easily take day trips to the coast for a nice beach walk, some kitesurfing, or even just to grab some fresh oysters!
