Neighbourhood
Within 2 minutes walking, you have 2 amazing French bakeries, 3 supermarkets (1 bio market), banks, two Italian restaurants, and Asia traiteur, etc. Across the street is a train station that takes you right to Paris (both La Defense and Paris-Saint Lazare). Also across the street is an entrance to Parc Saint Cloud, a huge park with a hobby farm (full of goats, sheep, and twice a week the farm sells produce grown on site). Great place to bike around, a VELIB' station is across the street. Versailles is easily accessible too. We bike to Versailles regularly.
Getting to my home
The apartment is across the street from the train station: Garches / Marnes-La Coquette. The train can be taken from Paris Saint Lazare or La Defense train stations.
Nearest airport
Charles de Gaulle is about a 45 minute train ride away, Orly too.
Getting Around
Shops for all needs (haircut, bank, groceries, restaurants, pharmacy, florist) are just a few steps walking. Well connected by bus and train.

We know Paris and the surrounding area pretty well. We can meet up for a coffee, take a walk around.
We had a lovely first exchange where we used a globe to stay at Filipa's home just outside of Paris. Filipa was wonderful o communicate with, and left lots of information about the home and area as well as a video showing us exactly how to get to the home from the train station (which is conveniently right across the street) and how to access the building. Her home was clean and comfortable and they left us some snacks, which were so perfect after a long day of travel. We really enjoyed this location for visiting France. We were easily able to hop on the train and go into Paris, but also had the markets and shops of Garches right around us (we LOVED the cheese shop especially). This would be a great hub if exploring France for longer as well, but we only had a week. We really enjoyed having a dryer that worked well, which can be hard to come by in Europe! We highly recommend an exchange with Filipa's family! Thanks for everything, Filipa and co. :)
Gosh what can i say, this was truly a wonderful exchange and we loved staying in Filipa's wonderful apartment in Garches. Firstly the apartment is gorgeous, so comfortable, in a lovely suburb of Paris and so close to the centre. We drove from Denmark and Filipa provided such detailed instructions on how to get there, where to park, get in etc that it really was an absolute breeze! We arrived to a whole host of goodies including the most delicious homemade hummus and banana cake and the girls were delighted to discover thier home for the next two weeks. Garches is such a good base for Paris, so quiet but very well appointed with two supermarkets, bakeries and everything else you could need. We love the local swimming pool, which was very welcome in the heat wave and we were forunate enough to be there over Bastille Day so got to enjoy the celebrations in the local town square. So fun! I cannot recommend highly enough a stay in this wonderful home!
Filipa and her family have the perfect base to explore Paris all day and then relax in their cozy home! We loved being there with every amenity we needed and easy access to the first floor apartment. Filipa was super organized with all of the communication and a fantastic book full of ideas. We have fallen in love with Paris! Looking forward to hosting them in Sardinia!
Filipa made this exchange so easily and seamless! She set us up with everything we needed and sent super helpful videos for navigating to her home from the train across the street. Her home is in an absolutely perfect location. Our family was very comfortable, her house has everything you could need. We had a fabulous weekend in Paris and we hope to return some day!
We have just returned home from our very first non-simultaneous home exchange with Filipa and her family in Garches, Paris, and what an experience it was! From the very beginning, Filipa made us feel completely at ease. She shared great tips on what to do, gave us clear and helpful information about the appartement and the area, and answered all our questions quickly and kindly. We truly felt welcome. She had even baked a delicious vegan bananabread for us when we arrived, such a thougtful and welcomming touch!
Before our trip, we were sent NAVIGO travel cards to use on public transport in Paris, which made everything a lot easier for us. The train station in Garches is just across the street from the apartement and takes you straight into Paris in no time.
Garches is a great place to stay when visiting Paris, superclose to the busy city center, yet peaceful and calm with a lovely small-town feel.
One evening we walked to Il Cara Bistro about 10 min from the apartement ( a great tip from Filipa), and had a wonderful italian meal. The food and the service were both fantastic.
Filipa’s apartment is absolutely beautiful, warm, welcoming and full of lovely art. It was tidy and very well-organized with plenty of space for us to relax after long days exploring both Paris and Versailles. As “newcomers” to PLU we couldn`t have asked for a better first experience. We are so grateful for our stay and can warmly recommend exchanging with Filipa and her family.
Thank you:)
We had a great stay in Filipa's clean and lovely apartment in Paris, perfect for our family. Filipa's home is located just across the road from the train station which makes for excellent, no hassle, quick and easy connection to Paris city centre and Versailles. There are also lots of beautiful parks and an ambundance of green space on the door step. The supermarket just downstairs and lots of independant stores and boulangerie in the village were super convenient.
Filipa was delightful to communicate with and made everything so easy for us.
We loved our stay and would absolutely recommend exchanging with Filipa.
We just returned from a fantastic week at Filpa’s apartment. We arrived to a wonderful array of home made treats, which was such a lovely welcome! The apartment had everything we needed and was perfectly located for easy trips into Paris and Versailles, and we loved the local bakery, supermarkets and park. Filipa’s detailed recommendations were super helpful and we enjoyed a great range of activities, from exhibitions to swimming in the Seine. A fabulous stay, thank you Filipa and family!
Filipa's home is lovely and so comfortable! It is in an excellent location for visiting the environs of Paris, and gives the feeling of living like a local. It is biking distance to everything, and also directly across the street from the train. Thank you Filipa and family for sharing your beautiful home with us!
What a great place! Ideally located for public transport, we had the opportunity to explore Paris, while basing out of her spacious, super-comfortable, and wonderfully decorated home. Everything you could need is within easy walking distance, including a big weekly farmers market just up the hill.
Filipa is kind and generous, responsive and fun. She left very clear notes on how things work in her home, as well as excellent recommendations for places to go and things to do.
A great PLU experience!
Thank you, Filipa!
Filipa was such an incredible host. Communication was clear and thoughtful, and her home manual and suggestions were so helpful. She even had a friend meet us to welcome us to her home and walk us through how to get into the appartment. The home is lovely and I can't say enough about the location. There are two supermarkets directly downstairs, and it is on the corner of the main street with all of the French specialty shops that we love. Best of all, Filipa's home is directly across from the train station which puts you into La Defense and easy connections to metro lines in only 8 minutes. Thank you so much for hosting us, Filipa!
We had a wonderful exchange in Paris. The communication with our hosts was excellent; they were very friendly and all arrangements were perfectly clear.
The beautiful apartment was a delight. It was spacious, with separate rooms for our sons, and it smelled lovely upon arrival. The large, well-equipped kitchen was a highlight, it's clear there's a chef in the house!
The apartment is tidy and features a warm decor filled with beautiful souvenirs and art. We were welcomed with a delicious homemade banana bread and really appreciated the thoughtful extras, such as the passes for the local swimming pool, library, and the Navigo travel cards.
The location is incredibly convenient, right across from the station. You just have to cross the street to catch a train, giving you immediate access to the fantastic Parisian public transport system. Since we traveled from Amsterdam by train, this was ideal. Using the provided Navigo passes and the app was very easy, with no need for paper tickets.
Furthermore, there are two amazing bakeries just around the corner for fresh croissants and bread each morning, and a supermarket conveniently located right below the apartment. Everything we needed was within easy reach.
Highly recommended!
Due to our own circumstances, we were able to spend only one night at Filipa's beautiful place near Paris. However, we really liked the chill vibe and beautiful architecture of Garghes. Their home is very spacious and peaceful.
Thank you Filipa for your hospitality!
Filipa's home is conviniently located by a train station taking you anywhere you want in Paris, while having the largest backyard ever (Bois de Saint-Cloud)!
We were 6 persons over 13 years old and the flat is big enough.
We wish Seb and Filipa many happy exchanges!
Filipa's home is a great place for those who want to get away from the chaos and crowdedness of city life. The train station is conveniently across the street, yet, it's a quiet and calm neighborhood!
The home is also located across from Parc de Saint Cloud as well, which is a gorgeous green space— including a farm!— where you can go on walks, bike rides, picnics, etc. This home is child-friendly (lift available, space, wide doors, etc.), and it is a cozy, comfortable place with wonderful decor from their travels and living overseas.
Filipa is very organized, thoughtful and communicative, so everything was explained clearly; there was no confusion about anything. Although she does not have young children, she made sure that the space would suit our family's needs.
Highly recommend for those who want access to green space but be a train ride away from Paris!
Filipa And Sébastien were wonderful hosts and there home was a perfect oasis for our Parisian holiday. Their apartment is clean and comfortable. It’s so helpful to have the Monoprix grocery just downstairs and to be right across the street from the train into Paris. We loved the little town of Garches as it was quiet and safe, yet so easy to get into the city.
I would be happy to have the opportunity to exchange with them again!
It’s always so easy and enjoyable to exchange with Filipa. She maintained the house perfectly and left me a thorough video on her departure. Thank you Filipa and family!
Filipa and her family were wonderful guests, looked after our home with so much care and left it clean and tidy, like nobody had been there! Would not hesitate to recommend them as guests.
Filipa was the perfect guest — she and her partner brought gifts, shared their joy of Oman and our home in a Whatsapp group (we love when people love our place!) and were tidy, respectful, excellent communicators. Thanks Filipa - hope to meet you someday!
It was an absolute pleasure to host Filipa and her wonderful family in my apartment!
They were kind, respectful, and treated my home with great great care. Filipa is the sweetest in communication, always warm, thoughtful, and she kept me updated with lovely photos from their time in Albania.
She truly enjoyed discovering all of Albania and said such kind words about the country.
As a touching gesture, she even brought thoughtful gifts for my newborn baby, along with wine, chocolates, and super delicious banana cake that my parents (lucky to eat it) loved.
I couldn’t have asked for a better exchange experience! Filipa and her family are welcome back anytime! We can’t wait to travel to her place in Paris 🧡
We had the pleasure of hosting Filipa and Sebastien for an hospitality swap, and once again, we were reminded of how much we love this concept ❤️. We truly enjoyed our evenings and breakfasts together, chatting endlessly and sharing stories. Filipa and Sebastien are kind, thoughtful, and easygoing guests, funny and generous the kind you’re always happy to welcome into your home! Thank you for choosing us and for all the lovely treats! You are welcome back when you want (in June to see all the spring flowers)
I was happy that I was able to meet Filipa and her family in person when I welcomed them to our apartment in Vantaa, Finland. They are very nice and communicative people and left the place very tidy. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Finland.
We had wonderful guests. Communication was excellent throughout, making all the arrangements completely seamless.
They treated our home with great care and left the apartment in perfect order. It was also clear that our cat, Robbie, was showered with love and attention, which he (and we) really appreciated.
We would happily recommend them for an exchange to anyone
Sébastien, Filipa and their two lovely kids were wonderful guests. They were easy to communicate with both before and during the exchange. They were very respectful guests and left our home in perfect condition. I would be happy to welcome them back any time!

Kate and family were WONDERFUL guests! Super communicative, kind and open. They were perfects guests. We came back to the apartment with food ready to each (which was such a nice treat) and the sweetest card! Our home was left in pristine condition. They are welcomed back anytime. Kate and family, thank you for staying at our home and being amazing!
Feedback for Julie·Non-Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
Our family was in Julie's home in Sardinia for a week of utter bliss! We were so close to spectacular beaches and amazing food, we could not have asked for a better vacation. Julie and Barry were kind enough to greet us as we disembarked from the ferry and lead us to their home. They had set up everything for us perfectly. We had treats from them and food to get us started, they lent us their beach mat and fins for snorkling. They were readily available when we had any questions. Their home is super cute and has everything one could need for a comfortable stay (including air-con!) We cannot say enough about how wonderful this PLU exchange was and to all those out there thinking of a Sardinian vacay--go for it! You will not be disappointed. And to Julie and Barry--thank you for giving us an amazing experience.
Rhio and family were amazing guests. They were communicative, helpful and super respectful. We came home to our place being super clean and everything in its place. We couldn't have asked for better guests. They are welcomed back anytime!
Rhio has a wonderful home! It is super comfy, well-equiped and perfect for lounging. The garden is also lovely. It is large, with a cosy greenhouse and trampoline. The home is just beautiful.
The Olsen family home is a MUST. All the creature-comforts one can imagine at one's finger-tips. We loved the family library (took down some key titles to pick up!), tons of games for kids and adults, well-stocked kitchen for those cooks out there and a brilliant location. We were about a 5min walk from the beach and a pretty park to walk around and plenty of shops across the street. The home is also super close to everything -- Muscat is at your disposal! The family was so generous with their communication and helpful tips. Anyone and everyone would be uber luckly to stay here!
And Oman is super cool! We loved visiting this beautiful nation (the wadis, the mountains, the beaches...) and the people are so kind and welcoming. We ate well, can't get enough of their delicious dates!
Feedback for Becca·Non-Reciprocal exchange·3 nights
Becca's home is INCREDIBLE! The family has a home library full of wonderful books for adults and children. The home is HUGE, with a beautiful back/front yard, fully-equipped kitchen, a comfy living room, and even a room for arts and crafts connected to the kitchen. The home is close to everything. We visited most of Muscat and did day trips across the coast.
Becca and family were very communicative, open, and helpful.
Their housekeeper, Jinky ,was there when we stayed, and she made our time there easy and convenient.
We highly recommend both the Olsen family home and visiting Oman. Both were brilliant!
Feedback for Julie·Non-Simultaneous exchange·3 nights
Julie and family were wonderful guests. They left our home super clean and communicated regularly with us. Super lovely! I would adore having them over again, and I am so happy that we will get to their part of the world shortly in July. They also left us some lovely treats--in particular, an amazing Cianti! Who could ask for more??
Lauren and her family were lovely guests. She was open and available and treated our home with love and attention. We came home to the apartment being spotless. We would welcome Lauren and her family anytime!
Feedback for Astrid·Non-Simultaneous exchange·4 nights
Astrid and her family were PERFECT guests. They were communicative, kind, and thoughtful. The family brought over some amazing treats from Norway for us to try --- honey, jam, cider, and delicious chocolate! It was totally unexpected, but definitely appreciated.
They left the home in tip-top condition. We walked in to everything put away and the apartment super clean. I loved that Astrid was in touch over the week to tell us about what they were doing in Paris and that was super nice.
I would recommend Astrid and family easily as guests in anyone home. You would be lucky to have them!
:)
Feedback for christine·Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
Christine left our home even cleaner than we left it! She and her family were lovely, staying in regular contact with us and even leaving us treats upon their departure. She is a lovely human being who is welcome in our home again, whenever she and her family desires!
Feedback for christine·Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
Christine's home is fabulous! It is definitely designed by an artist. The moldings on the walls, the light touches of art and bespoke furniture, and the incredibly large kitchen made this home a lovely place to be. It is also walking distance from so many cool spots. We we super close to Arthur's Seat for hiking and neat areas with cool, funky stores.
Christine was also so gracious, giving us helpful hints and making the home picture-perfect for our arrival. We could not have asked for more.
Edinburgh is also a super cool city. It was our first time visiting and we could not have been more impressed. It is really a delightful place. And at 900 years old a history buff could not ask for a more engaging city to visit.
We would exchange again with Christine in a heart-beat!
Feedback for Edit·Non-Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
We LOVED LOVED LOVED our time in Edit's place in Durrës. Her apartment is super cute, comfortable and right by the water. Every day we walked along the beautiful coast. The location could not be better. The apartment is surrounded by excellent restaurants and cafes, all walking distance. I cannot express enough how good the food was and how inexpensive. We rented a car, and finding parking was super easy. We drove around and saw all the sites that Edit recommended. Super cool place. Edit was also responsive and helpful (even though she had her BABY during our stay!) In a nutshell: Albania--super cool country, interesting history, amazing food, beautiful coast, and kind people. Thank you, Edit, for accepting our exchange. Can't wait to see you in Paris, with baby in tow.... Filipa :)
We had a fantastic week at Cathy’s home. Cathy and family were super kind and responsive to our needs. We arrived to a home well prepared for us including a divine banana loaf! She and her family have created an oasis in Guildford. Her home is simply lovely and laid out in such a comfy way that it was hard to leave. And Guildford is a cool city too. A really nice city center and for nature lovers, walking trails are everywhere. We swam and kayaked in the channel. Time flew and we loved every bit of our exchange!
We just celebrated the best 1-year anniversary of our joining this beautiful community by spending 4 glorious days with Corinne and Jef in Normandy.
These two are the best the world has to offer: super kind, generous, intelligent, wise, and funny. Their daughter, who we were lucky to hang out with as well, was also just darling! They fully embraced us upon our arrival until we departed. They made us dinner (not just once, but twice) and ensured we were well fed and taken care of (even their animals were welcoming and warm).
Corinne and Jef made time for us, to tell us about their adventures on PLU, about their home, their lives, and their passion for their beautiful region. The small details --- personalised welcome card, local gifts, mugs....it was truly hard to leave!
Corinne and Jef: thank you so much. You are the best of us! For those of you lucky enough to meet and spend time with them, you know what I am talking about!
Feedback for Theadora·Non-Reciprocal exchange·1 night
We loved having Theadora as a guest in our home! She and her family treated the apartment with love and attention. We arrived to a spotless home and a homemade cake. She and hers are welcome anytime.
Feedback for Theadora·Non-Reciprocal exchange·3 nights
Theadora and her family were absolutely lovely guests. We came back home to a spotless home with a few lovely treats for us, including a homemade banana bread, which was delicious! She was super easy to communicate with, kind and generous. I really enjoyed making plans with her, she was open to many experiences and loves local things. Wonderful guest, she and her family are welcome here anytime!
Feedback for Krista·Non-Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
We loved staying in Krista's home in Helsinki. The location was great, we were right on the direct train line to both the airport and downtown. The area around the apartment was calm, close to amenities and forest trails. We booked city bikes to use during our stay and that was super cool. We biked around so much, Helsinki is a bike-lovers paradise.
Krista was super helpful and available with answers to our questions. She met us at the apartment and helped us settle in. A really great exchange!
Feedback for Nicole·Non-Reciprocal exchange·8 nights
Nicole and family were great. Very responsive and respectful. We would have them again anytime! We came home to a clean apartment and everything was in order. I hope they enjoyed their time in Paris as we loved having them!
We had an amazing time at Michiel and Daphne's home. Perfect location, near everything with fun stores and great restaurants nearby. The street was quiet as well even though we were in the heart of Amsterdam. The highlight was their cat, Robbie. We spent four fun-filled days with Robbie, who welcomed us as soon as we entered the home.
The apartment is really awesome. The decor is modern and nicely decorated, everything is clean, easy to find and comfy. We particularly liked the living room that was super well set up to relax and hang out. The kitchen is well-equipped and the appliances modern and easy to use. The bedrooms are all comfortable and roomy.
Michiel and Daphne also were kind enough to leave us some treats upon our arrival. We enjoyed the stroopwaffels, crackers and chocolates! A really nice touch.
Overall, highly recommend a stay at Michiel and Daphne's.

Dear Gaelle,
Thank you so much for staying in our home! You and your family were wonderful and thank you for leaving our home cleaner than when you arrived! We appreciate your kindness and the sweet treats you left for us upon your departure.
Filipa et al :)
We loved staying at Tina's place in the 15th. Such a cute place and the location is ideal for exploring Paris. We basically walked everywhere. Around her place we found everything that we needed. Her home is cosy, clean and quiet. It is also well-stocked, we didn't need for anything. I hope we exchange again!
Feedback for Kristy·Simultaneous exchange·8 nights
We had a fabulous time at Kristy's! It was a local exchange so we were able to have our first exchange and get the hang of it. Kristy could not have been sweeter. As someone who knew the process she helped us feel comfortable, safe and answered all our questions.
Her apartment in Garches is super cute too, in a nice quiet area with sweet neighbours. The apartment is also super close to all one's needs--bakery, pharmacy, supermarket, and the train into Paris. A sweet spot.
No hesitation whatsoever in recommending Kristy both as a PLU expert and as a home exchange person.
Feedback for Kristy·Simultaneous exchange·8 nights
Kristy was an absolute delight! She arranged everything with me clearly and was super kind and fun. She respected our home and treated it like her own. Would love to do another exchange with her!
