General overview
Large redwood deck with a 200 year old redwood tree coming up through it. Surrounded by other redwoods and bay trees. View of the San Francisco Bay from the deck. Very private yet only 5 mins drive to shopping and the freeway. 30 mins drive from down town San Francisco, 7 mins drive to the ferry that goes to San Francisco. Approx 1 hour drive to Napa, Sonoma etc. 45 min drive to Stinson Beach. Mt Tamalpais very close for great hiking or mountain biking. Weather sunny and dry from May until November usually. Lots of local restaurants with 10 min drive.
The space
Large two story house. Three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms upstairs. Also a huge office with armchair, desk and printer you can use. Downstairs large living room and dining room both of which open onto the deck. 1200 sq ft deck surrounded by redwood trees and bay trees. You can see the San Francisco Bay from the deck. If you’re here in June, July or August you can see gorgeous sunrises over the bay. Very bright home.
Very large wood fireplace if you’re here in winter. Floor to ceiling 15 ft windows with French doors opening to the deck. Wonderful place to chill out among the trees, or sit inside with a glass of wine watching the fire if it’s a chilly time of year. (November onward)
60 in TV has a Roku with access to Netflix, Apple+ Prime etc.

Two floors. 12 steps to second floor. 3 steps to access front door. Access thru garage has no steps at all.

Neighbourhood
House is in a hilly neighborhood so while walking around is very pleasant you need a car to get anywhere. Public transport is not really available. However if you drive for 7 minutes you can park and take the ferry into San Francisco.. 15 minutes drive you’re at the Golden Gate Bridge. Downtown San Francisco about 30 mins drive. Less than an hour you’re in wine country I.e., Napa or Sonoma. 10 min drive to Mt Tam with beautiful hiking and scenery. 15 mins drive to,Sausalito.
Getting to my home
San Francisco airport is about 45 mins away in good traffic. Rush hour could be well over an hour. Oakland airport is about 40 mins away. Theres an express bus, $28, that leaves the airport every hour and drops you off about 5 mins drive away. Then it’s a $12 Uber ride. Or it’s an $80 Uber direct from airport.

Need a car but shops etc are only 5 mins by car. Ferry to San Francisco is about 7 mins drive.

Single guy, 68, born and raised in Ireland but now living in San Rafael California. Retired. Looking for longer stays Europe , Asia. Or shorter stays in USA Canada etc. but willing to consider anything..
Very fond of Italy, Spain and some other Euro countries. Like to visit there on shoulder months like May or September. Enjoy visiting parts of Asia in Dec onwards. Interested in Japan April or May timeframes.
Would like some weeks in New York as well.
