We live in a renovated mid-century modern home - we are the second owners. It sits in the back of other houses on it's own little plot of just under an acre of land, surrounded by trees and a beautiful view of the the valley and mountains beyond with no immediate neighbors. The second floor houses a gorgeous deck to accent the views and the primary suite, which is its own getaway within this getaway, featuring an amazing view as well as a small sauna and a soaking tub for a tranquil retreat.
The Space
There are 5 bedrooms, one of which we use as a "playroom" which contains many games and kids' books in the closet. That room only has a small twin-sized pull out sofa. The primary bedroom houses a king-sized bed, the guest room and my son's room each have full-sized beds, and my twin girls' room has twin-sized bunk beds.
Kids are welcome to enjoy the nearly acre of property, but note there is an [uncovered], heated, salt water pool and a trampoline that should be used with caution.
Guest Access
The house is entirely accessible except the primary bedroom suite, which is the only set of rooms on the second floor besides the rooftop deck. The rest of the house is on the first floor which is open concept and can accommodate differently abled people.
Notes
There is a cleaning fee of $200 for non-reciprocal/globe exchanges
Pets considered, pet deposit left to owner's discretion
There is an EV plug on the side of the garage
Potential car use, must be discussed depending on insurance (I have minimal while I am traveling and don't loan out the car then)

Neighbourhood
South Pasadena is a very small family-friendly suburb of Los Angeles. It's quiet and safe and full of family events. Downtown LA and Dodger Stadium are 15 minutes away. It's a very sought after suburb for its easy access to LA but also feeling totally different and outside of LA.
Nearest airport
LAX is about 30 minutes away, Burbank airport is about 20 minutes away.
Getting Around
South Pasadena itself is very walkable although we live high up on a hill. It has a metro train stop that can take you to many sites in LA and further into the suburbs - even to the beach if you want to stay on it that long (it has to go through downtown first). LA is a very car-centered town with mostly not great public transportation. If you don't have a personal car, would recommend Uber/Lyft apps.

Zoanne
We are a family of 4 - single mom with an 11yo boy and 9yo twin girls as of 2024. During the 2024-25 school year we are embarking on an ancestral journey where we are exploring the countries of our origins. We're looking for a more homey experience vs a "vacation" experience, and we feel that staying in homes will give us more of that real community experience.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
