General overview
We chose our home because it is on a flat acre of land adjacent to farmland and very peaceful, yet only a minute's drive to the lake and Peachland. where we can go for an enjoyable walk or hike straight from our door. Downtown Peachland has just over 5000 residents and has 11 km of beachfront lined with shops and individually owned restaurants, most overlooking the lake. We are between Kelowna (2nd biggest city in BC) and Penticton making it an ideal location to explore the Okanagan with its many lakes and wineries. The people are very friendly and welcoming making the transition from the Uk to this sweet little town very easy

We have the main house where we live, which is available for exchange, and our Carriage House, which is available for both exchange and non-exchange stays. We do operate as self-catering accommodation in the summer and you can see our website at www.poolsideretreat.com.

Neighbourhood
We are on a flat-level one-acre plot adjacent to farmland, very peaceful, yet only minutes from downtown Peachland and the lake. It's lovely to take a stroll in the evenings around the block or take the local hike that overlooks the lake.
In the summer Peachland and the Okanagan in general is a summer vacation destination with lots of free concerts and things to do.
Getting to my home
You can either fly into Kelowna or Penticton, with both airports being around 40 minutes drive away, or fly to Vancouver and drive, which is about 5 hours.
Nearest airport
40 to 50 mins depending on traffic
Getting around
You will need a car, and we would be willing to exchange cars and agree to a limited number of kilometres.
We have stayed 5 nights (hospitality) in Gillians place in Peachland.
The Pool suite was very comfortable and has all you need for a nice stay.
We explored the area and Gillian informed us on activities going on at the time. We also got messages from her on the Black Bear that visited the house at night and about the Northerlight passing by.
Communication was very easy and she was always "available" for questions.
We can really vote for a stay at their place if you want to explore the Okanogan Valley. It's very centrally located to wineries, a great coffee place (BLISS), great hikes and other nice villages like Summerland where you can take a ride on the Kettle Valley Railroad.
In the summer they even have a pool!
Thanks for all.

Jan and Monique stayed in our Poolside Suite for five nights to unlock our Globe and looked after our plants and cat when we went camping.
They were great guests and appreciated our recommendations, and we communicated well. We came back to a happy cat and plants. We only met them briefly, and it was a shame it was not for longer.

We are an active retired couple originally from the UK but now live in Peachland, BC Canada. We have two houses on our acre of land, the larger having a guest suite on the lower floor. We operate a B & B called Poolside Retreat, in the summer months. We fell in love with Peachland on a visit to BC since it is a small town, set on a lake but between the bigger towns of Kelowna, (with an international airport) and Penticton. The area is famous for its lakes and wineries. We enjoy outdoor pursuits such as hiking and are history buffs. We have three children, and two grandchildren. Our daughter Lucinda lives nearby in summerland with her family, our son Jack a ski coach is based with us and other son Oliver, lives in Venice Beach, California.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
