General overview

Our house located in Northgate is a standalone architecturally designed house located within a well established garden of Australian native plants. The house was designed by me and makes the most of the northerly aspect. It is a cool house in Summer and warm in Winter. The house is located in a quiet, yet well connected pocket of Brisbane, close to rail, villages of Nundah, Sandgate and Banyo, within 15mins drive to Airport, waterfront of Sandgate and 5mins to highways to Gold and Sunshine coasts. The house would be suitable for a range of travellers including families.

The space

The house has living spaces downstairs with open plan kitchen, dining and living room. The living/kitchen and dining spaces open to a covered outdoor patio onto a level grassy backyard and deck under the trees. There is a kids play room stocked well with toys for all ages as well as a bathroom including shower and large laundry. Upstairs you will find 4 bedrooms - 1 main bedroom (Queen bed) with walk in robe and ensuite bathroom, 1 bedroom with Queen size bed and desk, 1 bedroom with Double size bed, 1 bedroom with 2 single beds. The main bathroom has a separate shower and bath. Upstairs also has a communal living space.

Guest access

The house is double storey with stairs (approx. 17 steps) between levels. Living is on the ground floor and sleeping rooms upstairs. There are also 5 steps at the entry from the carport to the front door. Unfortunately the house would not be suitable from someone in a wheelchair or one who has issues with stairs.

Notes

We have rooftop solar to reduce our reliance on fossil fuel energy, a compost and worm farm to ensure we are only throwing out items that can't be used in our garden.

Neighbourhood

Our house is located in a quiet leafy neighbourhood of established homes only 10kms to Brisbane City (20min car ride or 15mins by train) and 15mins to the Shorncliffe/Sandgate foreshore. There are a number of good parks within walking distance and a small strip of shops at the end of our road - coffee shop, newsagent, vet, beautician and butcher. Brisbane is a vibrant city with great weather year round. The cultural precinct - Southbank, Museums and Art Galleries is days of entertainment.

Brisbane Airport - 10-15mins by car/taxi

Getting around

Our area is serviced well by public transport - bus and train. A bus stop is located 300m from our house. This bus services area to city as well as stopping in the nearby Nundah Village and Chermside Shopping Centre along the way. One of the best things about the location of our place is its proximity to Northgate Train Station (10mins walk). Northgate Station has express trains to Brisbane City every 10mins in peak hour. The train connects to the Airport train and you can travel to either Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast in approximately 1.5hrs. We do a lot of bike riding from our place (bikes will be available for use) and there are great bike paths out to Shorncliffe and along Kedron Brook from our place.
