General overview
Homely practical house in Greater London, A 15- minute walk through quaint Buckhurst Hill High Street (likened to a Cornish village street by the London press) or Woodford Green to Central line underground which takes 25 -45 minutes to all of the wonderful sights London has to offer.
We are lucky to live in Epping Forest, known as King Henry VIII’s hunting (and wooing) grounds. Visit the Queen Elizabeth I Hunting Lodge - a 20 minute walk away.
Or:
- Hire bikes locally and ride through the 280km of green paths that start just a short walk away.
- If you like fishing there are 25 ponds for you to enjoy!
- and plenty of walking through greenery (Autumn is my favourite), past Longhorn cattle, and you may see some young deer if you are lucky.
Bring / hire a car and within a 60-90 minute drive you can visit St Albans, Cambridge, Oxford, Harry Potter Experience, Kent and Suffolk’s gorgeous coastline and quaint villages. This location has the best of both worlds.
We have lots of space, and have retained many original features of this 1914 detached house such as timber and fire place. Our home has an inviting feel, a good vibe to help you relax. Rooms are all big, so if you are a large family or prefer lots of space to work and holiday then this is perfect.
This is our forever home so we are looking to host families that will appreciate it for what it is - a functioning and loved home :)

Local walks and bike rides in Royal Epping Forest.
The area is an affluent commuter belt, with lots of building conservation. Lots of diverse places to eat, Turkish, Italian, Greek Thai, Vegan, and lots of pubs!
In the summer you will see hundreds of cyclists go past in the mornings its a well travelled road through the Forest out into Essex countryside for keen cyclists to enjoy.
History of our town:
Our house is opposite where the old toll gate was. Anyone bringing cattle and horses into London in the old days from the East of England would have to pay here to enter London. The area is also the constituency that Winston Churchill sat in when he was a parliamentarian and there is a big statue of him on the green.
We also have one of the oldest cricket clubs in the country in Woodford Green.
Top tips:
- Try the Seafood Shack at High Beach in the Forest, if it was good enough for Justin Bieber and Daniel Craig its good enough for you!
- Go to Walthamstow market - Longest market in Europe (walk to Chingford get on over ground to Walthamstow)
- Want to paddleboard or swim? Book in at Luxborough Lake in Chigwell. Just ten minutes drive away.
Walk to Pole Hill Chingford in 30 minutes, from there you will see Greenwich across the river and stand where East meets West on the Greenwich Meridien.
Visit the travelling farmers market in Wanstead, Epping or South Woodford for pies, meats, sauces and local ales.

Welcome to use all my spices and condiments. I love cooking so you will find everything you need here. Thai, Japanese, Indian, Italian Mediterranean and some Arabic spices and herbs are all found in my deep pantry. This is my happy place.

Epping Forest in Autumn - my favourite for all the colours and the crunching of leaves under my feet.
We are on Central line (red) in North East corner. I commute to the city twice a week easily. I have highlighted it in yellow for you. It is a very fast commute. Trains generally come every 2 minutes in peak hours and every 3-5 minutes off peak. Central line is also 24 hour on Friday and Saturday night, so if you have older kids that want to go to a late night weekend gig they can . Taxi stand is right outside Woodford station and will bring you to the house for £4 if your legs are tired from sightseeing or dancing in the west end! The tube is safe at night, and some nights the passengers entertain you with their sleepy antics :) I travel back at midnight sometimes , so rest assured you can enjoy London's full offer and get home safely at the weekend.
