General overview
I love my place! It's in the heart of bustling Bridgeland, a quirky neighbourhood that feels like a little village, filled with cafes, restaurants, parks, and in walking distance to the Bow River and downtown Calgary.
Overlooking a park, with large sun-filled windows, a gas fireplace for the cold winter evenings, and a lovely outdoor patio, my place has a relaxed, calm feel to it. As well as the queen bedroom, there is a separate den that acts as a home office.
My place would be perfect for a solo or duo travellers.
Beautiful Banff in the Rocky Mountains is just 90 mins drive away.
The space
My apartment is open-plan, with a comfy living room with a smart TV and fireplace, a home office (large monitor and laptop stand for your use), a large fully-stocked galley-style kitchen and pantry, a small bathroom with a shower and tub and a bedroom with queen bed, a large closet and chest-of-drawers.
In the summer there is lots of greenery outside the windows. I have a large brick patio outside with a nice patio set and umbrella, and a BBQ you are welcome to use.
The apartment is the perfect place for a cozy winter getaway or a mid-winter city staycation, or as a base if you are exploring hiking or skiing in the beautiful natural areas around Calgary.
I have a portable airconditioner for use in the main living room during Calgary's hot summers. The whole apartment has in-floor heating which keeps it lovely and warm in Calgary's cold winters.
Guest access
The apartment is on the ground floor. It has front door access from the patio which is about 4 steps up from street level. It also has a rear entrance inside the building which is completely wheelchair accessible.
Notes
A family with one or two young children would be welcome to stay, though it would be tight. Happy to discuss and provide any information if you are interested.
I use natural cleaning products and fragrance-free products. My home is also gluten-free friendly.

Neighbourhood
Although just across the river from downtown, Bridgeland is an historic Calgary neighbourhood that feels like its own little village. It's a diverse community with mixed housing include original old homes, multi-level apartment buildings, and seniors housing. You'll see professionals, young families, and retirees around, and lots of visitors who come to enjoy the restaurants and services.
There are often local farmers markets or live music in the summer. It is a lively area, but being set back from the street means the apartment is quiet and peaceful. You can walk about 5 minutes down the road to Tom Campbell Hill for gorgeous views of downtown and the mountains (and during Calgary Stampede, the late-night fireworks at the grounds).
There are lots of cafes, brunch places, restaurants, bars within walking distance. There are two small locally-owned marts about 5-10 minutes walk away where you can get groceries, gourmet prepared meals and all the essentials you might need.
Attractions that are great for kids like the Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark (the science centre), the central library, and the riverwalk area are all within 20 mins walk or a short drive away.
Hiking in the Kananaskis or Banff National Park is about 60-90 mins away.
Getting to my home
Bridgeland is about 20 mins drive from the airport. There is also an express shuttle bus (#300) from the airport to downtown, from where you can catch the train for a few stops then walk about 5 minutes to my apartment.
Nearest airport
The nearest airport is Calgary International Airport, about 20 minutes drive.
Getting around
It's about 5 minutes walk to the train station (1 stop to downtown), and there are lots of bike paths plus the Bow River pathway about 10 minutes walk away.
You can walk into the eastern end of downtown (about 15-20 mins) where there is the gorgeous Riverwalk area, the National Music Centre, and the award-winning Calgary Central Library.
