General Overview
Our apartment is called ‘Bali Ananda" which means joy and bliss in Sanskrit - and thats exactly what we hope you'll find here. Bali Ananda Apartment is a brand-new , peaceful space just one street back from the beach, nestled in a lush garden within a small, Balinese-owned hotel in Sanur.
Run by a warm friendly local family, the hotel offers a beautiful pool just steps away - perfect for swimming laps, floating under the palms or unwinding with a massage. The tropical grounds are lovingly tended by a wonderful team, creating a serene atmosphere throughout your stay.
Enjoy snacks by the pool or step outside to explore Sanur's vibrant mix of Balinese, international eateries and day spas.
Sanur is only 30 minutes from Denpasar Airport and our trusted driver can pick you up on arrival or take you on private, tailor-made island tours whenever you wish.

The Space
Your Bali Ananda holiday apartment is designed for comfort, relaxation, and a touch of luxury during your stay in beautiful Sanur.
Bedrooms:
Two spacious bedrooms, each with a plush queen bed featuring top-of-the-range American King mattresses for a restful nights sleep.
Ensuite bathrooms connect directly to each bedroom for privacy and convenience.
We only offer the second bedroom under special circumstances as we use this bedroom ourselves and it contains our personal effects.
Living Area:
The living room is furnished with custom-made high quality furniture and features a beautiful day bed - perfect for an afternoon nap or a quiet moment with a book.
Ceiling fans and air conditioning keep every room cool and comfortable.
Kitchen:
A modern , kitchen with a stovetop, microwave, toaster, jug, full size fridge and a filtered water dispenser - ideal for preparing light meals or snacks during your stay.
Veranda:
Relax on your private veranda with a ceiling fan to keep you cool while you enjoy the gentle Bali breeze.
Your Bali Ananda Apartment is thoughtfully designed to feel like your own peaceful oasis in the heart of Sanur.
Guest Access
Access to your Bali Ananda Apartment is through the hotel grounds. Just a short 100-metre stroll surrounded by tropical gardens. The apartment is conveniently located on the ground floor of a three storey building, with only four gentle steps leading up to your private veranda and front door.
Our area includes its own beautiful pool, separate from the hotel's main pool - perfect for a quiet swim or a peaceful soak. Guests are welcome to use all the hotel facilities which include another 2 pools.

Bali Ananda is our home, and we've made sure it has everything you need for a comfortable and blissful stay.
We are a retired couple who enjoy exchanging with 'People Like Us' guests - ideally two adults. If you would like to use the second bedroom, please feel free to reach out so we can have a discussion.
We often visit family and friends in Australia, so non-reciprocal arrangements may be possible when needed. We also love providing warm hospitality to our guests and Globes are always welcome.
Your stay includes cleaning three times per week, with fresh linen changes once per week.

About Sanur
Sanur is one of Bali's most beloved seaside neighbourhoods - laid-back and welcoming, with a beautiful mix of local charm and modern comforts.
You'll love the calm beaches lined with colourful fishing boats and shaded trees, ideal for swimming or just relaxing with your toes in the sand. One of Sanur's highlights is the scenic 7 km beachfront promenade, perfect for bike rides, morning walks, or sunset strolls with an ocean breeze. When you are ready for refreshment, you can wander into one of the many beach cafes, or enjoy sunset happy hours at nearby five star hotels, where you can sip on a cocktail and watch the world go by.
Sanur is also home to the Icon Bali Shopping Centre, one of Bali's newest retail destinations, with shops, restaurants and an IMAX Cinema for a fun night out.
Throughout the neighbourhood you'll find local Warungs, cosy cafes, relaxing spas, and friendly faces at every turn. Sanur has a slower, peaceful pace - a perfect place to soak up authentic Balinese hospitality while having everything you need close by.
Getting to my home
We recommend using our trusted driver, as he is reliable, friendly, and knows where to go - it makes your arrival smooth and stress free. If you would like to arrange this, just let us know your flight details in advance. Gojek or the Bluebird taxi service, are also safe and reasonably priced. You'll find the official taxi counter inside the arrivals hall if you choose not to prebook.
Travel time: The journey from the airport to our apartment in Sanur usually takes around 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Nearest airport
Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International airport. This is the main airport for all international and domestic flights in and out of Bali.
Getting Around
Exploring Bali: we recommend using a private driver. Hiring a private driver for a half or full day is one of the most stress free ways to explore Bali.
Getting around Sanur: Sanur is a lovely, laid back neighbourhood - and it’s very easy to get around. Sanur is very walkable along the famous 7 km beachfront. Biking is one of the best ways to explore! Many visitors love renting a bicycle to ride along the promenade.

We had such a wonderful stay and truly felt at home from the moment we arrived. A heartfelt thank you to Marilyn and John for their warm hospitality and for creating such a lovely place to stay.
The location is perfect, with so many great restaurants, excellent coffee shops, and the beach just a short stroll away. There's also a shopping center nearby, so everything you need is within easy reach.
The grounds are beautifully maintained and create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Our unit was modern, spotless, and well equipped with a kitchen, which was perfect for preparing an occasional meal. It was also lovely to have housekeeping provided by the hotel staff, making our stay even more comfortable.
We especially enjoyed the beautiful swimming pools and the fantastic poolside area, which was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. Breakfast is available at the hotel restaurant for an additional cost, which is a convenient option if you prefer an easy start to the day.
Thank you again, Marilyn and John, for your kindness and generosity. Your property truly feels like a home away from home, and we hope to return again one day. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, peaceful, and welcoming place to stay.
What a gorgeous gem of a place!
Maz and John's apartment is very comfortable, with fans to beat the heat and air conditioning if necessary overnight. We usually cook for ourselves a lot when we exchange, but in Bali, the cafes and restaurants so plentiful that we soon got into the habit of eating out most days. The supplied filtered water ensured we avoided the dreaded Bali Belly.
The apartment is set in beautifully maintained grounds, with a number of pools to choose from. In the heat of the afternoon, a leisurely walk to Sanur beach is just 7 minutes away. There, we would take advantage of the cooling onshore breeze to settle into a lazy evening of watching the world go past.
It's tempting to spend most days lounging around, but during our 3 weeks, we did engage Maz's recommended driver to explore other parts of the island - the UNESCO-covered rice fields, a beautiful national temple, villages and towns festooned with celebratory penjor (tall, decorated bamboo poles).
I have to be honest and say the traffic is not good. Almost bumper to bumper from anywhere to anywhere else. Which is why it makes sense to sit back and let someone else do the driving!
We also booked a few nights in Ubud, famed as a centre of art and culture in the centre of Bali. Lots of tourists but still gorgeous. Don't miss the Water Temple! While there, we did an e-bike tour out into the countryside - fabulous but not for everyone. One of our party made the wise decision to go on the back of one of our guides' scooters.
We had the pleasure of meeting Maz and John before we went to Bali and they could not have been more fun, more friendly and more helpful.
Altogether, a wonderful break from Melbourne winter!
We had the best stay at Marilyn's home in Sunar. Her home has everything you need for a comfortable holiday. There's heaps of space (I even did aerobics in the loungeroom) and a big bedroom and bathroom. There are three amazing pools in the complex which is boutique so it's really quiet and friendly.
We did a little bit of cooking (full size fridge, microwave, stove top etc) but there's no need because the restaurant options are amazing and so cheap. So many different cuisines, apart from Balinese we ate Danish, Japanese, Vietnamese, French, Italian Mexican.....
We walked the 7km beach front boardwalk every day and even went to the movies five times at the brilliant cinema complex in the shopping mall.
We really hope Marilyn wants to come to Melbourne again because we would love to go back to her home.

We really enjoyed our stay in Sanur. The beach promenade has such a relaxed atmosphere with lovely cafes restaurants and people out walking day and night. It felt friendly and easy to settle into. Happy hour drinks while watching everyone stroll past on the promenade became one of our favourite parts of the stay.
If you enjoy somewhere smaller more casual and a little quieter than some of the busier parts of Bali Sanur is a lovely place to stay.
Communication throughout was warm friendly and accommodating which made everything very easy.
The apartment itself has been recently remodelled was spotless and is set within a beautiful Balinese style complex with a lovely new pool.

Marilyn’s apartment is set in a nice, quiet and relaxing place.
It is perfectly located in central Sanur and set well back off the main road but central to many cafes, restaurants and shops.
We really enjoyed our stay there and appreciated going out for tour days with their recommended driver who also made our airport collection and drop off a totally stress free experience.

The friendly atmosphere of the Taman Agung community was a pleasure & the location for walking along foreshore & enjoying the many restaurants & cafes is fabulous.
This is almost a second home & we love staying there.
We loved staying in Marilyn's villa. The location couldn't have been better.
Close to all of Sanur's wonderful restaurants, shops and services. The villa was roomy enough for a couple, with a great little kitchen and lounge area, and a nice verandah for drinks and a meal if desired. The villa was serviced every 3 days, we loved the choice of 2 pools and appreciated the deck lounges for reading. Access to reception for advice and recommendations, and things like laundry services was also very handy.
We recommend Marilyn's place to others wanting to enjoy Bali, and would definitely stay again.
Bali Ananda apartment was luxurious, very comfortable and in a fabulous location. We really enjoyed our 2 weeks relaxing in Sanur walking, eating and relaxing by the private pool. So grateful to Maz and John for letting us stay as their first guests and we will certainly be returning.

Marilyn has a prime location right near Surfers Paradise. The view from the apartment is stunning! The apartment itself is beautifully decorated, spacious, immaculately clean and well stocked. I was more than comfortable throughout my short stay and wish it could’ve been longer.
It was so lovely to meet Marilyn & John before their stay in my Gold Coast apartment. Communication flowed and they made themselves at home. Arrived home to a clean apartment & thoughtful gift of a board game to add to the collection. Sounds like they embraced Budds Beach down the road. Hopefully seen a few spectacular sunsets. XO

We had Marilyn and John complete a non-sim exchange at our home on the Sunshine Coast last week while we were away. They were great guests. Our place was so tidy when we arrived home, we barely even knew they had stayed. They even left us a "welcome home" casserole, which was very kind and much appreciated. John & I spent 2 weeks in Nats home. What a great stay. The apartment is North East facing and has beautiful ocean views as well as out to the mountains. There is 24 hour concierge and secure parking. We could not have wished for more. Location is great a short walk to the beach and the light rail and the iconic cafe Bumbles is just around the corner. John and I have just finished four wonderful weeks at the beautiful, historic Ardock in East St Kilda. Every day we caught the tram, conveniently located at the end of the street, and explored so many wonderful parts of Melbourne. We enjoyed fabulous restaurants, discovered beautiful historic buildings, attended theatre performances and wonderful concerts, and on quieter evenings relaxed in front of the warm, cosy fire with a lovely bottle of red wine.

We have just finished a wonderful week exchange in beautiful Robertson - Southern Highlands NSW.
Rebecca & Robs home is gorgeous. Sun drenched and cosy set in a beautiful garden just around the corner from the little village of Robertson.
The Southern Highlands area has so much to offer - visiting Bowral, Moss Vale & Mittagong.
Whilst we were out & about through the day, we spent most nights at home in front of the open fire place, making home made meals with the wonderful fresh Robertson produce.

John & I have just completed a lovely exchange at Tracey & Jays home. Whilst it rained for most of our time in lovely Buddina we were very cosy in their lovely apartment. We watched lots of movies on Netflix and made lots of snacks in their beautiful functional kitchen.
Location wise, it’s perfect with the major Kawanna Waters shopping centre literally next door and the beach & surf club just down the road.

Our stay at Ken & Mal’s was perfect. The two-bedroom apartment is set in a lovely complex with beautiful gardens and two swimming pools.
The apartment is beautifully appointed and very well equiped, with everything needed for snacks or gourmet meals
The location is excellent - right next door to Pacific Fair ( the Gold Coast’s premium shopping centre) and the Broadbeach Library and Community Centre.
The famous Gold Coast Beach is only a 10 minute, walk away, passing plenty of cafes and restaurants along the way. Public transport is incredibly convenient, with the light rail and bus interchange at your doorstep.
We had a wonderful stay once again and are looking forward to many more exchanges while Ken and Mal enjoy our Bali home. Thankyou PLU😊

We loved exploring the area and coming back each day to such a relaxing space. Moffat Beach is positioned perfectly to visit all the surrounding activities. Australia Zoo, the Ginger Factory, the Big Pineapple, Mary River Rattler, Noosa Beach and many more.
Around the corner there are many cafes and special shops which you pass on the way to 'Moffat Beach'.

Well, another great exchange at Ken & Mals lovely apartment on a he Gold Coast. The complex has two beautiful swimming pools and two tennis courts if you can find the time. The apartment is so central, next door to the iconic Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, 10 minutes to all the fabulous restaurants in Broadbeach and ofcourse the fabulous Gold Coast Beach.. We can totally recommend a stay here 😊

John & I had a non sim stay at Ken & Marilyn’s great apartment on the Gold Coast. This apartment is so comfortable and is in a really central position. Close to Pacific Fair - the Gold Coasts premium shopping centre - a 10 minute walk to the beach and an even quicker walk to the busy cafes & restaurants if Broadbeach.
Public transport only minutes away including bus to the airport.

We have just finished a lovely exchange with Anna & Alan in their beautiful Contessa Apartment.
We had 2 weeks of a non-sim exchange and then 3 weeks of hospitality. We were all in and out, shared some meals and had some great conversations.

Sally & Petes granny flat in Lennox Head was amazing. We were able to be part of the local community and loved it. We had many wonderful walks, great dinners and even ‘Pizza & Jazz’ compliments of Sally on the sax. If you ever have the opportunity to stay at Sally & agrees you are guaranteed to have a great time. Wow!! Sally is the best guest you could ever have in your home!! John & I returned home from an overseas trip completing the trip with 26hours of travelling to find an immaculately cleaned home complete with freshly made beds and laundered towels. John & I have just returned from a 9 day exchange in Brisbane.
Laura’s apartment has Position Position Position. We arrived and parked our car in the secured car park. We had no need to use our car at all during our stay! The most amazing restaurants in ‘Fish Lane’ are 5 minutes around the corner. Goma and Qpac - Ferry services and Southbank all within 5-7 minutes away. The new Casino is a 10 minute walk! The balcony of the apartment and the rooftop have amazing views! We were there for Riverfire and had one of the best views in Brisbane!
