  • Because of a unfortunate accident of one of their daughters Elena and Yan were not able to travel to our home as a family, 2 of them stayed in their home. But they were so kind to let us stay in their Airbnb 10 minutes away, in Foz de Arelho which was perfect for us. We checked out the appartement when we were invited for dinner and I can only say it was so nice! Especially the nice open kitchen and the kids room with plenty of toys :) Plus the only shop/cafe I found in Portugal that sells proper beer was literally around the corner. They left us some toys and local food & drink to enjoy when we arrived in the apartment and really let us feel welcome. The area gives plenty of opportunities to visit like old monasteries, the Atlantic coast viewing points, dinosaur footprints, Sintra Palaces or Lissabon. Thank you Yan, Elena and kids, maybe we will meet again once you visit the Netherlands as a family after all.
