When you’re ready to dive into the arts and history, the world-famous Museum Mile is just a quick trip away. Board the 6 train downtown and in about 20 minutes, get off at 86th Street. From there, you're a short walk to several top museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which houses over two million works of art spanning 5,000 years. Just a bit further along you’ll find the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, famous for its spiral structure and modern masterpieces.
Exploring beyond the neighborhood is a breeze. For a quintessential NYC experience, Times Square is about 25 minutes away via the 6 train to Grand Central, then a quick hop on the Shuttle S. Central Park, perfect for a midday escape, is even closer—just a 15-minute ride to 68th Street Hunter College.
Interested in seeing the Statue of Liberty? It’s a bit further but straightforward to reach. Take the 4 or 5 train from 125th Street, switch to the 1 train at Fulton Street, and head to South Ferry Station. From there, it’s a quick walk to the ferry terminal. Allow about 45 minutes to an hour for the journey.
After your city adventures, Thomas Jefferson Park in your neighborhood offers the perfect spot to relax. It’s a quieter place where you can enjoy some downtime or just people-watch.
Living here isn’t just about having a place to stay; it’s your gateway to exploring the excitement and wonders of New York City, including some of the world's most famous museums. Ximei and Tejas' home is so cute! It is comfortable and has lots of nice little touches, and is super well organized. The bed was very comfy and the shower nice and hot. Ximei was super communicative and responsive. They were even able to troubleshoot an electrical issue for us remotely!
We particularly enjoyed eating at Patsy's Pizza in the neighborhood. It was easy to get into midtown and otherwise south in Manhattan. There is not a lot of street noise. We would love to stay there again.
We enjoyed ourselves so much in NY! Ximei's home is very well located, perfectly connected with every place you will want to visit. The apartment is cozy and very well equipped. Ximei made sure that the house was ready to welcome us (thanks also Julie #30821 for leaving the home so clean and tidy); We were in close contact with her during our stay, she was very caring and helpful.
Thanks a lot Ximei and Tejas for hosting us, hopefully we can ever meet in person.
We had a wonderful time at Ximei's home, my kids and I didn't want to leave ! What an opportunity to stay in NYC !
Ximei is a perfect host, always happy to help !
Her appartment is really fonctional with everything you need !
We had an amazing time in New York. The apartment is in a great location for your adventures. Ximei was wonderful to exchange with. Always checking in and making sure everything was OK.
We have had a fantastic 9 nights in their lovely home. The transport links made sightseeing easy and very manageable when travelling with my 7 year old. Brilliant exchange partners. Love heloise Rose and natalia x
Ximei’s home is perfect for a NYC stay! Ximei provided everything we may need to get settled in and we felt very safe and comfortable. The apartment is close to lots of amenities and we especially enjoyed Patsy’s pizza nearby. There were frequent subway trains to downtown around a 10 min walk away. We definitely recommend her apartment if you want to visit NYC!
We had an amazing time in Ximei’s home in NYC.
The place is cozy and clean. Very close to the subway.
We usually spend most of our time outside when travelling but we loved every second of being in the apartment. Thank you and we would definitely love to come back!
We had a wonderful stay at Ximei and Tejas apartment in Harlem, for 10 days in April. The apartment was cozy, spacious, clean, and our hosts made us feel right at home. And the bed was so comfortable, we slept heavenly ! The location was fantastic—close to the subway (4 blocks) and the bus stop right in front of the building , this allowed easy access to Midtown and Downtown Manhattan, and also within walking distance to Central Park. We enjoyed exploring the vibrant neighborhood, which felt safe and welcoming even at night. This home exchange was an authentic New York experience with all the comforts and warmth of a friendly local stay away from the hordes of tourists, we enjoyed springtime in NYC very much !
Connecting with Ximei and Tejas has been perfect for us. We had an awesome time in NY with my husband and my son. Ximei was easy to talk to, honest and transparent from the beginning. We had a nice and easy two-way communication. She responded with respect and kindness always.
The apartment is well located with easy access to Manhattan and its best venues. The bus stops right outside the door with transfers to the subway just a few blocks away.
The apartment was clean and organized with all everything necessary to be comfortable. So far, this has been an awesome experience with PLU.
Our last-minute agreement worked out very well for us to spend New Year's in NYC.
Thank you Ximei and Tejas. I hope we see each other in the future and you guys are welcome to stay at our house anytime you need.
We had a great time in NYC! Ximei and her partners apartment was in a great location, well connected to the subway and bus routes. The apartment itself was spacious and tidy, would highly recommend!
Ximei’s hime is super cosy and after a rather stressful trip, they made me really feel at home and made everything they could to make me as comfortable as possible. Im so grateful!
Everything was super clean and comfy, and they pampered me with lots of nice treats. Thanks so much! Will definitely contact if Im ever in NY again!
Ximei, Tejas and their friends were excellent guests! We were happy that they were able to come to our home for Thanksgiving at the last minute! They left the house in perfect condition, making our return home seamless. We are so happy they enjoyed Venice! I learned some things too when they asked about fishing spots which I will now research further for future guests! I recommend them highly as guests in your home!
Meeting and socializing with Ximei, Tejas, Kapil and Paraq has been a genuine pleasure that we both (Marty and I) hope will happen again sometime in the future. Our home was treated with the utmost respect and left to us in better shape than it was when they arrived! We had a couple of nights where we all played pickleball, complete with snacks and drinks, just enjoying each other’s company that was super fun and exciting. Ximei and friends are extremely respectful and caring, we feel like we made some amazing new friends 🥰
Ximei, Tejas and Kaps were awesome guests. It ended up being just the 3 of them visiting for 12 days (the other couple couldn't make it). This was our first exchange and they made it a smooth go. They took excellent care of our home, left it spotless, and even left a nice frozen packet of Mahi Mahi and another catch for us to enjoy! We had a couple of snags with the house and they handled it with such grace. I guess it helps to have an engineer (Tejas) on site to figure things out! We appreciated them as guests and would definitely host them again. Thank you, Ximei, Tejas, and Kaps!
Ximei and her boyfriend were wonderful guests. She did an excellent job communicating with us in a timely manner. She informed us about a major plumbing problem with our water catchment system that supplies the water to our home and we were able to hire professionals to fix the issue while they were staying at our home but they were without water for a couple days and they were troopers! They problem solved and due to their camping experience were able to make it work and didn't complain and made the best of the situation. We truly appreciated their good attitude and understanding and updates on getting the problem solved and talking with the professionals. Your home will be in good hands with Ximei. She also went above what was expected for cleaning and sent us fun updates on their adventures. We really enjoyed having them as guests and highly recommend them.
Tejas and I, along with two friends, stayed at Amy and Jay’s home over Thanksgiving weekend, and we had such a wonderful time. Their house was clean, spacious, and gave everyone plenty of room and privacy. They had everything we needed and even prepared some groceries for us before we arrived, which was so thoughtful, especially since most stores were closed for the holiday.
They also gave us great recommendations for things to do. Our favorite was the fishing trip at the Venice Fishing Pier, which was only a few minutes away from the house. They even provided shark tooth sifters and beach chairs, so we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the beautiful golden beach, searching for shark teeth and watching the sunset.
Their backyard is lovely too, with lots of plants and a hot tub, such a nice bonus. Thank you, Amy and Jay, for your generosity and for hosting us! We would happily recommend your home to any families visiting Venice.
It was our pleasure to host Jennifer and her family! They were very communicative and took excellent care of our home, everything was spotless, and it truly felt like no one had even been there. We would happily welcome them back anytime and highly recommend them to future hosts.
Sanghamitra’s place is absolutely wonderful! We spent a three-day weekend there and had everything we could possibly need, a comfy bed, a spacious kitchen, fun games in the living room, and a huge lawn where we even flew their kite. They also have a double kayak and fishing rods, so for the first time, we tried fishing from a kayak, and actually caught a porgy!
We also explored nearby farms, enjoyed roasted corn, and picked up the delicious pie that Sanghamitra recommended, it was perfect.
And the location is unbeatable! Just a few minutes’ walk from the house is their private community beach. The water is calm and beautiful, that’s where we kayaked and fished. It’s such a peaceful spot, we only regretted discovering it on our last day. So if you’re lucky enough to stay at their home, make sure you visit the beach as soon as you arrive!
We loved everything about our stay and are already planning to come back again, next time with friends!
It was such a joy hosting Mayte and her husband Paco. They were incredibly sweet, flexible, and easy to coordinate with. When the previous family ran out of time to pick up the laundry, Mayte and Paco kindly stepped in to help, and even made sure to drop it off before they left.
Throughout their stay, they were very communicative and took wonderful care of both our home and our plants. Before leaving, they went above and beyond, bringing us a new plant and thoughtful gifts, and even writing a detailed note for the next guests about when the plants had last been watered to prevent overwatering.
Their attention to detail and sense of responsibility gave us true peace of mind, especially since we had been away from home for almost a month. We would absolutely be delighted to host Mayte and Paco again in the future and would highly recommend them to any future exchange partners!
It was a real pleasure hosting Julie and her two sons. They were kind, respectful guests who fit seamlessly into our home during their stay. Communication with Julie was easy and clear, which made the exchange smooth from start to finish.
They left our home tidy and just as they found it, which made the transition for the next family very simple. We truly appreciated how considerate they were throughout the exchange.
We would be more than happy to welcome Julie and her family again in the future and would gladly recommend them to any future exchange partners.
It was a true pleasure hosting Heloise and her family. We had four back-to-back exchanges, and as the second family, Heloise was wonderfully communicative and cooperative, making coordination with both the previous and next families seamless.
Having such responsible exchange partners in our home gave us complete peace of mind while we were on our West Coast road trip. They left our home exactly as they found it, which made the check-in process smooth for the next family.
Heloise was also very thoughtful, she brought us souvenirs from England, which we truly appreciated.
We would be delighted to host Heloise and her family again anytime in the future, and we wholeheartedly recommend them to any future exchange partners!
Thank you that is really kind x
Rebecca and her family were absolutely wonderful guests! They were very friendly, communicative, and took great care of our home during a busy period of back-to-back exchanges. They left everything just as they found it, which helped ensure a smooth transition for the next guests. We would gladly host them again anytime and highly recommend them to any future family.
Petra and Alex were wonderful guests and such a pleasure to host. Communication with them was super easy from the start, and they were so warm and friendly throughout their stay. They even invited us to hang out, which was really kind of them, we unfortunately couldn’t make it because of work, but we truly appreciated the gesture and would love to meet them if our paths ever cross again.
When we came home, the place was spotless. They left everything just the way we had it, which made it so easy for us to settle back in. They even left us some yummy snacks, which was such a thoughtful surprise. We’d happily host them again anytime and would definitely recommend them to any future hosts.
Marlene and Marty have an amazing, dreamy property! We had the best time playing Pickleball with them until midnight, BBQing, and enjoying movies in the home theatre (it was awesome)! Chilling by the pond and munching on the juiciest oranges right from their trees was basically our everyday morning routine. The air’s filled with this sweet scent of citrus blossoms and the bird chirping created such a happy vibe!
A huge shoutout to Matt (their son-in-law) and Zandra (their lovely daughter) for sharing their delicious honey products with us as a farewell treat. I don't think we can go back to store bought honey ever again!!
We went on day trips exploring Sequoia (35 mins) and Yosemite (an hour+ drive away). If you’re thinking about visiting this part of California, you honestly couldn’t pick a better spot! We look forward to visiting them again, soon!
Cheers!
Ximei, Tejas, Parag and Kaps.
It was a real pleasure to host Mariana and Andres. Communication with them was always smooth, and they treated our home with such care and respect. We returned to a clean, well-tended space that made settling back in feel easy and welcoming. Their thoughtfulness and reliability made the entire exchange feel effortless. We’d be more than happy to host them again and highly recommend them to other hosts!
Hosting Claudia’s family was such a great experience. They were thoughtful, easy to communicate with, and they took great care of our home. When we returned, everything was clean and exactly as we’d left it, which made the whole process feel smooth and stress-free. Their attention to detail and kindness really stood out, and it’s clear they truly value the home exchange experience. We’d absolutely welcome them back anytime and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, respectful, and considerate guests. They made the entire exchange a pleasure!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at Patty and Tim’s house. The location is perfect - restaurants, shops, beaches and fishing charters are all within a 5-minute drive, making everything incredibly convenient. Miami isn’t too far either.
Their home is beautiful and impeccably clean. We fell in love with it the moment we walked in. The backyard and swimming pool are truly hidden gems! We spent many mornings and evenings relaxing on the porch, watching iguanas climb the palm trees, and soaking in the breathtaking sunsets.
The layout of the house is thoughtful and comfortable, providing each of us with our own space while also giving us plenty of opportunities to spend time together. Whether we were cooking dinner in the well equipped kitchen or grilling on their back porch, it felt like a home away from home.
They even have a dedicated office space with fast internet, which was perfect for one of our group members who needed to work remotely. He had no trouble staying connected, even during video meetings.
We are so grateful for the hospitality and care Patty and Tim put into making their home such a fantastic place to stay. We hope to visit again someday!
Hosting Christine and Bryant's children, Samara and Caleb, along with their friend Hannah, was a truly delightful experience! They were easygoing and took good care of our home. As a thoughtful surprise, they even left us chocolates, souvenirs from New Zealand, and a bottle of wine, which made our return extra special. By the time we got back, the house was perfectly ready for us to settle back in, making the whole experience seamless. We couldn’t have asked for better guests and would happily welcome them back anytime. Highly recommend this fantastic group to anyone considering a home exchange!
Joana was such a pleasure to host! She was incredibly polite and respectful, and she left our home spotless. Coming back to find everything just as we left it was such a relief. Her care and thoughtfulness really stood out, and we’d happily host her again anytime. We highly recommend Joana to anyone looking for a wonderful home exchange experience!
We had an amazing experience staying at Melissa and Grant’s house, aka Uka Farm! The house was well organized, clean, and had everything we could ever ask for and more, plus the Hilo weather kept it nice and cool throughout the day. Melissa’s guidebook was a lifesaver, with clear and detailed instructions for everything, including fantastic recommendations for dining and outdoor activities. She was also always available to answer any questions, so we never felt unsure about anything and felt right at home.
Upon arrival, we were delighted to find that Melissa and Grant had prepared some delicious macadamia nuts and chocolate for us—a truly sweet and thoughtful gesture that made us feel so welcome.
Melissa and Grant’s generosity truly made our stay special and super comfortable. They allowed us to use their truck, which made getting around the island so easy and convenient. We loved having paddle boards and snorkel gear available at the house and spent many enjoyable evenings exploring the ocean, backwaters, and calm rivers. Grant also let us borrow his fishing gear, and fishing in the shade at Hilo Bay Area became our favorite pastime on hot afternoons.
Additionally, the WiFi was flawless. My boyfriend worked remotely during our stay and had zero issues with the internet connection.
We couldn’t be more grateful for this incredible experience and wholeheartedly recommend a home swap at Uka Farm for anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful stay in Hawaii. Thank you so much, Melissa and Grant!
