General Overview

Our house is in a quiet green area. Our giant pine and walnut trees provide pleasant shade in the summer heat. Birds are frequent guests in the garden and sometimes hedgehogs and squirrels also visit us. We have a large terrace with two sun loungers. You can use our bikes, as we live near one of the most fabulous bicycle routes that connects Budapest with the sights of the Danube Bend. Trains to Budapest run every half hour.

The Space

Our house has two floors. On the ground floor there is a living room with a corner sofa, which can also be used as a double bed. There is also a shower, toilet, a well-equipped kitchen and a guest room with a pull-out sofa for 2 people. A comfortable wooden staircase leads to the upper floor where there are three bedrooms and a bathroom with tube and toilet. There are two single beds and a double bed in these bedrooms.

Guest Access

The entrance to the house through our big terrace has a few stairs. Our home may not be a good fit for people with mobility issues. Guests will have wifi access. We do not have local/cable TV.

Notes

We have a cute cat who is easy to make friends with. If we change houses we may ask you to feed him. In the summer, it spends most of its time in the garden and in the neighbourhood, only needing to be fed in the morning and evening. It will not interfere with your peaceful holiday.

Neighbourhood

Our small town lies on the banks of the Danube and we have a small wooded sandy island which is a protected area. We come here in the summer to swim in the Danube. The sunset is beautiful from here as the sun dips behind the hills opposite. There is also a small outdoor thermal bath in our town (just 5 minutes by car or 10 minutes by bike) with swimming pool and a smaller pool for kids in a green area with big trees. https://goditesz.hu/szolgaltatasok/termalfurdo-strand (worth to check this Hungarian page. They have also a simplified English version but it is not actualized, with quite old info). In Budapest, the capital city (just 30 minutes by car or train) there are endless sights and activities to discover. https://www.thecrazytourist.com/25-best-things-budapest/ Budapest has an amazing bath culture. Try out the well knows thermal baths: https://www.spasbudapest.com/ Have you heard of the Kolodko mini sculptures in Budapest? A great way to explore Budapest especially with kids is to hunt for mini sculptures around the city. https://budapestflow.com/hidden-mini-statues-budapest/ Close to our home there are also a lot of charming places worth to visit. I've collect just the most scenic ones below. Aquapark with water slides, sauna (15 minutes by car). A nice program for all ages. https://www.aquaworldresort.hu/en/aquaworld Castle of Visegrád (1 hour by car or by train + boat): https://visitvisegrad.hu/en/sights/citadel Plenty of fun activities in Visegrad, like canopy, bobsled, go-cart, trout fishing: https://visitvisegrad.hu/en/programs/active-relaxation Visit Vác, a charming small town (just 20 minutes by car or train, and 40 minutes by bike along the Danube on a scenic bike path): https://visitvac.hu/en/ Szentendre, the village of artists (30 minutes by car): https://welovebudapest.com/en/toplist/2018/05/11/we-love-budapest-s-visitor-guide-to-szentendre/ If you are a hiker there are plenty of tracks within 1 hour distance. Getting to my home

The easiest way to reach us is by car. Budapest Airport is 30-60 minutes away by car, depending on traffic. You can take a taxi or a shuttle. It's half an hour by train from Budapest to us.

Nearest airport

Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport

Getting Around

There is a bakery within a 5-minute walk where you can buy basic groceries. There is a larger store and a greengrocer within a 15-25 minute walk. And there are also a few supermarkets accesible by car. We have a few restaurants nearby and a first in class small pizzeria. Every Saturday morning there is a small farmers' market where you can buy fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese and sausages. You can also taste typical Hungarian dishes like lángos and kürtőskalács.

Zsolt

We are a family with two teenage children who love travelling and hiking. My wife Emese works for an NGO, I'm a team leader at a Dutch company, Emma (15) and Abel (17) are students. We offer for exchange our primary home. We live in the suburbs of Budapest in a quiet location, just half an hour from the city center. The Danube River is within walking distance of our house. We have a lovely cat, who would love to stay with you if you exchange with us. CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR (TWO) ONE WEEK EXCHANGES BETWEEN 3 - 16 of AUGUST 2026 IN EUROPE.
