Welcome to our breathtaking 3 bedroom, 3 full bath mountain home with the most stunning ocean views in the area. Built in 2023, each room is designed to capture the beauty of the surroundings with either wall-to-wall glass sliding doors or expansive picture windows.
Enjoy the majestic sunrise over the mountains or a serene sunset over the Nicoya Peninsula from the huge front deck, complete with a dining table and seating area. Situated on 1.5 acres at the top of a hill, this home offers unparalleled privacy and exclusivity.
The gorgeous kitchen features an induction stove and a large quartz island, perfect for cooking and entertaining. Concrete floors run throughout the house, enhancing the sleek, modern aesthetic.
The open-concept floor plan creates a seamless indoor/outdoor living experience. The back of the house opens up to a private secret garden, an ideal play area for children. Off the master bedroom, you'll find a peaceful grassy meditation area. While the home does not have AC, fans in every room and refreshing breezes keep it cool year-round, with cold evenings providing comfort most of the year.
The space
Living Space: The open-concept floor plan creates a seamless indoor/outdoor living experience, with concrete floors throughout. The living area offers gorgeous views and the sliding glass doors open up completely to the front deck. It's a perfect space for relaxing and taking in the views.
Kitchen: Our modern kitchen is equipped with an induction stove and a large quartz island, making it a great space for cooking and entertaining.
Bedrooms: Each of the three bedrooms offers spectacular views. The master bedroom features a private grassy meditation area, perfect for unwinding and stargazing.
Bathrooms: All three bathrooms are full baths, designed with modern fixtures and ample space. The Jack and Jill bathroom between the two kids bedrooms has a extra large tub with gorgeous mountain views.
Backyard: The back of the house opens up completely to a private "secret garden" area, ideal for kids to play.
Front Deck: The huge covered front deck is perfect for dining and enjoying the majestic sunrise over the mountains or the sunset over the Nicoya Peninsula.
Guest access
The house is all on one floor, making it easily accessible for all guests. There are no stairs or special access requirements.
Notes
While there is no AC in the house, fans in every room and the cool breezes keep the entire home comfortable year-round. Evenings are typically cool, providing a pleasant respite from the day's warmth.
Organic produce, including homemade sourdough breads, can be delivered once a week, ensuring you have fresh, local ingredients during your stay.

Maderal, San Mateo, is nestled in the Machuca Valley, a rapidly growing hub for eco-communities and intentional living. The valley is home to a vibrant community of world-renowned healers and thought leaders in sustainable living.
Proximity to Eco-Communities:
Alegria Village: Just a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from the house, this eco-community is known for its sustainable practices and community spirit.
Ecovilla San Mateo: A 20-minute drive away, this brand new eco-community is home to the weekly Ecoferia, Machuca River access and walking paths.
La Ecovilla: Located 25 minutes from the house, La Ecovilla is the first eco-community in the area and the most established, with about 40 homes and beautiful tropical surroundings.
Every Sunday, the local Ecoferia Market comes alive with music, entertainment, educational seminars, produce markets, and local handmade goods. It also features an Ayurvedic/vegan restaurant, offering a delightful culinary experience. Additionally, every Thursday, there's a produce market in San Mateo where you can find fresh, local produce.
The magical Machuca River runs throughout the valley, providing majestic swimming holes, waterfalls, and hiking spots. If you enjoy hiking, you'll love the trails with sweeping views of the Nicoya Peninsula on one side and the sprawling mountains on the other. The area is teeming with wildlife, including toucans, butterflies, and a variety of jungle creatures.
Day trip ideas include Poas Volcano, Jaco Beach, Tarcoles Crocodile Bridge, and renowned chocolate and coffee tours, making day trips both exciting and convenient.
Getting to my home
From SJO, it's a scenic drive to Maderal, taking approximately one hour. The road is well-maintained, but we recommend a 4x4 vehicle for added comfort and convenience.
There are no rail services directly to our home. The closest bus services are in Orotina, about 20 minutes drive away.
Nearest airport
The nearest airport is San Jose International Airport (SJO), about an hour's drive from the house.
Getting around
A car is necessary for getting around, preferably a 4x4 for navigating the local terrain. Recreational walking is feasible within the immediate area if you like mountainous terrain.
