General Overview

Our home has 3 bedrooms available for guests (2 Q beds and 1KS) , 2 bathrooms, 2 living areas, laundry, an outdoor covered entertaining area and a large enclosed back yard with an inbuilt trampoline for the kids. It’s a bright, clean and spacious house in the gorgeous seaside village of Port Fairy, 20 minutes past Warrnambool at the end of the Great Ocean Rd. We are situated on the Moyne River surrounded by beautiful beaches with great surf, fishing, diving & coastal walks. The great Southern Right Whales are regular visitors to our waters in winter as are dolphins, seals and the occasional orcas. Port Fairy has plenty of heritage sites, is full of wonderful cafes & restaurants , a wide variety of boutique-style shops and has a myriad of natural attractions all within walking distance from our house. Within 15 mins drive there is a Volcano crater (Tower Hill) that can be driven through or explored via the walking tracks. Here you can see koala's, kangaroos, echidnas and emu's in their natural habitat . A car and bikes can be available for the exchange where needed.

The Space

Our home is the perfect place for a peaceful escape in a quaint historic town by a picturesque river and surrounded by stunning beaches. Bedrooms offer built in robes and garden views. The kitchen and dining area includes a wood fire and opens to a covered patio area and the backyard. The bathroom is recently renovated to allow accessibility for wheelchairs including a walk in shower, vanity, and toilet. One of the property's highlights is the rear outlook, with its rose garden, historic stone wall, fruit trees , veggie patch and lush green lawns, all while being an easy walk to town centre, river, and beaches. Car access to the property is conveniently located at the front driveway, with a single lock-up garage featuring an automated door . The combination of privacy and prime location makes this property an ideal base for a holiday and exploring the west coast of Victoria.

Neighbourhood

Port Fairy was voted as one of the world's most livable cities with a population under 20,000 after winning the 2012 International LivCom award. The last destination on Victoria's famed Shipwreck Coast, Port Fairy boasts wide streets lined with 19-century cottages, great Norfolk pines and old stone churches. Port Fairy has a rich history, and 50 buildings are protected by the National Trust of Australia. There is history in every corner of this charming fishing village at the end of the Great Ocean Road. The beach is the place to be in the summer months with conditions suitable on its different beaches for diving, surfing, stand up paddleboarding, swimming, fishing and wading. Port Fairy is a town in love with the arts. Peruse the diverse array of boutiques, antique stores, and art and craft shops scattered throughout the town. Griffiths Island holds the iconic lighthouse and a breeding colony of the short-tailed shearwater or Australian muttonbird. There's truly something for everyone is this small town which is why we kept returning for holidays then eventually chose it as our home after travelling most of the country.

Getting to my home

Port Fairy (historically known as Belfast) is a coastal town in south-western Victoria, Australia. It lies on the Princes Highway in the Shire of Moyne, 28 kilometres (17 mi) west of Warrnambool and 290 kilometres (180 mi) west of Melbourne, at the point where the Moyne River enters the Southern Ocean. If needing public transport, Vline train runs 3-4 times a day from Melbourne to Warrnambool then a connecting half hour bus trip to Port Fairy.
