We live in beautiful Christchurch in the middle of the South Island. Our house is warm, comfortable and a bit luxurious! We are part way up the Port Hills looking out over the Canterbury Plains. We have spectacular views right through to the Southern Alps. We are located 15 minutes to the city centre where there are loads of restaurants, theatres and parks. Being on the side of the Port Hills gives us immediate access to walking, biking and tramping tracks, not to mention the Adventure Bike Park that we view from our windows.
The space
Our four bedroom, two bathroom house is spacious with two living spaces and a dining area which opens onto a private outdoor entertaining area. The kitchen is modern, with two ovens, induction hob and every appliance you could wish for (I love to cook). The living area opens onto a lovely private deck with great views, BBQ area, outdoor seating, and small garden.
Downstairs is the entrance way with two bedrooms (although one is an office) with a bathroom in between. The double garage is internal access so just drive in and walk up the stairs to the main living area, where there are two bedrooms, main bathroom and laundry area.
There is a fantastic view of the Southern Alps out our living area window and we witness some amazing sunrises and sunsets.
Guest access
We live in a cul-de-sac down a private lane so our property is very quiet.
There is limited parking in the lane but space for 2 cars in our driveway (and two in the garage). The parking spaces are level after a small drive up our drive way
Notes
Christchurch is located in the center of the South Island so a great place to explore from. We are about 3 hours drive to gorgeous Lake Tekapo and another two hours to lovely Wanaka and wine regions of Central Otago. Spectacular Queenstown (which is a bit busy and touristy for us!) is also down that way. Going North is the lovely Waipara and Hanmer wine regions. The top of the South Island is a very popular holiday destination for Kiwis and has amazing golden beaches, a famous wine region and even more gorgeous scenery.

We are a recently retired active couple and we are looking for forward to travelling and meeting people from all over the world. I was CEO of an organisation that supported people with mental health conditions, and my husband is a semi-retired business owner and part-time adaptive ski instructor. We have now booked a trip to Canada for four months from the end of November 2024 until 31 March 2025 and our house is not available in that window of time.
Until then we are open to hospitality stays till the 27th November and after 8th April 2025. We have a separate bedroom, bathroom and small living area available during these times and we love having people to stay.
We will also look at swaps again after mid April 2025.
