Our 170-year old Victorian terraced home is set over three floors in one of the friendliest communities we’ve ever known. It’s also right next to a lovely park, outdoor pool, expansive lake which you can swim and paddleboard in, tennis courts, and the Thames is 5 minutes’ away.
Oxford is a famous City 50 mins train ride from London where we both work. It is famous for films such as Willy Wonka and Harry Potter, its incredible museums and 36 Oxford colleges. It is called the City of the Dreaming Spires because of it's beautiful architecture. We are the gateway to the Cotswolds with Blenheim Palace only 10 mins drive away.
Our house is 15 mins walk to central Oxford but also 5 mins to open fields.
The space
Find a large living room and eat-in kitchen on the ground floor. We spend most of our time in the kitchen, which has a large refectory table seating 8 and looks out, via bifold doors, to the garden - where two chickens live in a coop. The main (king-sized) bedroom and two kids' rooms are on the first floor, along with a bathroom. An en-suite double guest room is on the third floor.
The two children's single rooms are cabin beds. Our children are 9 and 6 and so have a sea of toys for those age groups.
Guest access
There are three floors, with stair access.
Notes
We have two chickens in a large coop in the back garden, which also has a ten foot trampoline.

Neighbourhood
A lovely park, outdoor lido, expansive lake (beloved by paddleboarders and swimmers), and four well-kept tennis courts. Cross the railway bridge over the lake and rural walks abound.
The Thames is 5 minutes’ walk away, flanked by Oxford college boat houses and a popular pub or two.
Getting to my home
Our home is a 15-minute walk from the centre of Oxford, a short bus or taxi ride from the railway station, and easily accessible by car from Oxford's ring-road.
Nearest airport
Heathrow is the nearest airport - it is an hour's coach, cab or car ride from there.
Getting around
We have a small supermarket a 10-minute walk away, walk an extra 5 minutes to the centre of Oxford, where more supermarkets can be found, along with many restaurants, cafes, pubs and outdoor markets. There is a farmers market in the park on Sundays with a bakery as part of it.
The famous covered market in town has butchers, fish mongers and bakeries.
